BAMMA 7: Paul Daley returns to Birmingham to fight Jordan Radev on Sept. 10

British welterweight lightning rod Paul Daley (27-11-2) has been booked to make his return to the United Kingdom when he takes on Bulgarian bruiser Jordan Radev (23-4) at BAMMA 7 on September 10 from he National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

"Semtex" heads back to the UK with his tail between his legs, having suffered back-to-back defeats under the Strikeforce banner to Nick Diaz and Tyron Woodley. His last win came in his BAMMA debut via crushing knockout over Yuya Shirai earlier this year.

"I want my title shot again, plain and simple," Daley said in today's release. "If I have to plow through Radev to get a crack at the belt, then unlucky for him. I can’t wait to be fighting for my UK fans again and I promise that by the end of the year I’ll be crowned as the BAMMA welterweight champion."

The Nottingham knuckler will have to make takedown defense his top priority against the former Olympic wrestler.

Radev was last seen squeaking past Maro Perak via split decision under the M-1 banner back in May 2010. The win pushed the former UFC middleweight to 12-1 over his last 13 fights but may have a disadvantage after not competing for over a year.

Nevertheless, the full time trainer sounds undeterred:

"It’s a real honor to fight for BAMMA. I’m really impressed by their growth and I’m very happy to be making my debut against a World class fighter. I want BAMMA to see me as a title contender so if I have to beat the fan favorite for that recognition, so be it."

Paul Daley vs. Jordan Radev, or as the purists refer to it: "A classic match-up of striker vs. grappler." Anyone think Daley gets it done?
