The UFC 134: "Silva vs. Okami" pay-per-view event, which emanated from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, kicked off with a light heavyweight contest pitting former contender Luiz Cane against Octagon debutant Stanislav Nedkov.

Cane was attempting to regain the status he once held as the next big thing in the 205-pound division while Nedkov simply wanted to introduce himself to a wider audience the best way possible. After all, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression.

Consider it a success for Nedkov, who got battered early but came swarming back to blitz and finish his foe with punches in the very first round.

Impressive debut for the Bulgarian butt-kicker.

The fight kicked off with both men coming forward and landing strong punches. Nedkov was unloading his left hand while easing back and staying out of trouble. Cane was getting after it himself, eager to please his fans in his native land.

Once he got confident in his strikes and started landing with consistency, Nedkov looked uncomfortable, resorting to his power overhand right far too often.

Or so it seemed.

Once he connected clean, "Banha" lost his legs and it wasn't long before Nedkov put the finishing touches on a successful Octagon debut.
