The UFC 134: "Silva vs. Okami" weigh-ins, held today (Aug. 26, 2011) in Brazil, went as smooth as could be, with nary a push or a shove to be found. Complete results here, staredown pics here and video highlights here.
The crowd, however, made it a memorable experience, at least for those in attendance, when they frequently chanted "Vai morrer! Vai morrer! Vai morrer!" while fighters from foreign countries weighed in. Which isn't so bad until you learn what the literal translation of that is:
"You're going to die."
Forrest Griffin and Brendan Schaub seemed to get the worst of it, which makes sense due to their fighting native heros Mauricio Rua and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, respectively.
They seemed to handle it well, too, making it through the entire process without openly weeping or altogether showing outward signs of fear.
At the very least, the walkouts tomorrow night (Aug. 27, 2011) at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, just got a lot more interesting. As if we needed any more reason to be pumped for the fights, right?
