For over five years now, UFC matchmakers have been searching to find an answer for who can defeat Anderson Silva inside the Octagon.
He's been inside the cage 13 times and decisively won each time, only ever really getting tested by Chael Sonnen. All throughout this time, Yushin Okami compiled a 10-2 record and gained a bit of a cult following as the man who could finally dethrone the middleweight champion.
Just don't count recently retired Randy Couture as a member of that contingent. Here's what "The Natural" had to say about Okami's chances in the UFC 134 main event on Aug. 27:
"I don't think Okami is going to be able to beat him. I don't think he has the right skill set. Although Okami is one of those kind of guys, like Kim, that makes everybody kind of off and make them look funny and they just have trouble getting off on them, I just don't think Anderson's going to have that trouble. I think he's going to reach him, I think he's going to finish him. ... In Brazil, he's going to be very motivated to put an exclamation point on it. I don't think Yushin Okami has the right skill set to beat Anderson. I think we saw the blueprint with Chael Sonnen and that kind of tenacious wrestler that's not afraid to get into the mix and take him down every chance he gets and smother him and as long as he can smother him and make him work, I think that's what's going to be the guy to beat him."
Okami, who has been training with Sonnen in preparation for Silva, apparently doesn't have the necessary tools to deal with "The Spider," especially down in Brazil where he'll be looking to make a statement.
Agree or disagree with Couture's assessment? After the jump is "Captain America's" full prediction for the fight.
