Brazil in da howse!
Veteran lightweights Rafael dos Anjos and Gleison Tibau have been green-lit to square off at the upcoming UFC 139 event going down on Nov. 19 in San Jose, California.
UFC.com has the report:
"Two of the best Brazilian lightweights in the UFC have verbally agreed to fight as Rafael Dos Anjos takes on Gleison Tibau at UFC 139," confirmed UFC president Dana White. The two black belts will war in San Jose this November.
The last time dos Anjos "warred" was at the UFC 132 event on July 2. The submission specialist recorded the very first knockout win of his career, pasting George Sotiropolous inside the first round, giving him four wins in his past five fights.
Tibau has also won four of his last five contests and is coming off an impressive "Submission of the Night" showing at UFC 130 this past Memorial Day weekend.
The mammoth mauler tapped out Rafaello Oliveira just two fights removed from outworking Kurt Pellegrino, which sent "Batman" into a temporary retirement.
And while a win for either man isn't going to put them at the top of the ladder in the loaded lightweight division, every victory counts towards the eventual goal of contesting for the coveted division title.
UFC 139 is expected to e headlined by a titanic heavyweight title with Cain Velasquez making the first defense of his title against division number one contender Junior dos Santos.
Also set for the card is a bantamweight number one contender bout with former champion Brian Bowles taking on recent title challenger and former featherweight kingpin Urijah Faber.
