UFC 132 recorded a gate of $2,304,500 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 2, 2011, according to official figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) released earlier today.
The final attendance of 13,109 was a result of 8,103 tickets sold and 5,006 complimentary tickets. A mere 787 tickets went unsold.
UFC 132 featured the first bantamweight championship fight in the history of the promotion, as titleholder Dominick Cruz defended his strap against Urijah Faber in a hard fought grudge match.
Perhaps that had something to do with the organization struggling to push its product for the annual Independence Day weekend event.
Cruz was successful in his defense of his title, earning a unanimous decision win after five grueling rounds against his arch nemesis, "The California Kid."
Also on the docket was a middleweight showdown between Chris Leben and Wanderlei Silva, which "The Crippler" won by knockout after just 27 seconds and nearly as many uppercuts.
In addition, Tito Ortiz resurrected his career from the ashes with a stunning first round submission win over number seven ranked light heavyweight Ryan Bader.
The UFC forked over a considerable $1,277,000 in fighter salaries for the live event and another $300,000 in additional bonus money for the four participants who delivered outstanding performances.
