You just knew UFC President Dana White wouldn't keep quiet after this.
Shortly after Dan Henderson knocked out Fedor Emelianenko in the main event of Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Henderson" last night (July 30) in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, White took to Twitter to make his thoughts clear.
Naturally, he kept it short and sweet:
"Michael Jordan of MMA!? Dumbest thing ever said!!! So stupid."
If there's anything you can count on with White, it's that he's consistent with his stance and he's stubborn as a mule.
This, of course, harkens back to the Octagon boss's earlier comments regarding this fight and the situation Fedor found himself in simply by accepting the booking.
Here's a refresher:
"If I've got to still give Fedor his digs, my dig would be, 'Dude, you're fighting a 185-pounder.' Henderson's got a great chin, he's durable, he's got good wrestling, he can stay out of submissions, and all the great things I can say about Henderson, but Henderson weighs 185 pounds. So I actually think this fight, as far as Fedor is concerned, it's a lose-lose for him. If he knocks out Dan Henderson, he knocks out a 185-pounder. If he gets knocked out, he just got knocked out by a 185-pounder."
Indeed, Fedor got knocked out by a 185-pounder.
Of course, that's ignoring the fact that Henderson is the current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and has enjoyed a great deal of success at the weight class.
However, it certainly doesn't look good for a man widely considered to be the greatest heavyweight fighter of all time to get knocked out for the very first time by a guy that had to hold his bladder to stay above 205-pounds.
Ultimately, White's opinion is just that -- his opinion. But the fact remains, Fedor has now lost three in a row and he was just taken out by a man who has competed at a weight class two divisions below his.
