Mike Easton vs. Jeff Hougland bantamweight fight planned for UFC on Versus 6

Highly touted bantamweight talent Mike Easton will finally make his Octagon debut -- in front of a hometown crowd no less -- when he takes on Jeff Hougland at UFC on Versus 6.

The promotion made the 135-pound bout official earlier this evening for the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 1, 2011.

Easton, who has not competed in nearly two years because of knee surgeries, was last seen stealing a controversial split decision from Chase Beebe at UWC 7: "Redemption" in Oct. 2009.

"The Hulk," who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Lloyd Irvin and trains alongside division champion Dominic Cruz, is on a five-fight win streak that dates back to 2007, which marks his first and only loss in 11 professional appearances.

He'll look to make it six straight in the nation's capital this fall.

Hougland, who is also no stranger to long layoffs (four years), has been on a tear, winning five straight, too, but all of them coming within the last 12 months.

He's been super active, which includes winning his Octagon debut just last month with a unanimous decision win over Donny Walker at UFC 132: "Faber vs. Cruz." "Hellbound" is also no stranger to submissions, winning 70 percent of his 14 career fights via tapout.

This could very well turn into a technical ground battle.

UFC on Versus 6 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight that features champion Dominick Cruz trying to "Dominate" the division's mightiest mouse, Demetrious Johnson.

Other match ups currently set for the Oct. 1 card include a welterweight war between Anthony Johnson and Charlie Brenneman, as well as a long awaited rematch that pits Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman.
