A lightweight battle has been added to the upcoming UFC on Versus 6 fight card set to go down on Oct. 1 in Washington D.C., as Michael Johnson and Paul Sass have agreed to throw down.

UFC.com brought word:

"Verbal agreements are in for a lightweight bout featuring English submission specialist Paul Sass vs. powerful wrestler and TUF 12 finalist Michael ‘The Menace' Johnson," said UFC president Dana White today.

Johnson was the runner up for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 season that concluded in Dec. 2010 a the live Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After fighting his way through the TUF house to earn a spot, "The Menace" came up short against eventual winner Jonathan Brookins in a close unanimous decision loss.

He rebounded, though, in his next contest, besting Edward Faaloloto via technical knockout in the very first round. His ascent up the 155-pound ladder will continue with another unheralded but still dangerous opponent.

It's easy to forget that Paul Sass earned himself a hefty bonus in his Octagon debut fight by choking out Mark Holst in the first round of their bout at UFC 120. "Sassangle" was awarded "Submission of the Night" for the nifty triangle.

That marked win number 11 in just as many career fights for the 22-year-old Brit.

By the time he climbs inside the cage against Johnson, however, it will have been nearly an entire year out of action for him. Tough break for a promising prospect out of the U.K.

But this is where he can make his name. So you take the good with the bad.

UFC on Versus 6 was recently revealed by the promotion as a third event that will take place in the month of October, adding to an already stacked month that will include UFC 136: "Edgar vs. Maynard 3" on Oct. 8 and UFC 137: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" on Oct. 29.

Yes, please.

Match-ups currently set for the card include a welterweight war between Anthony Johnson and Charlie Brenneman, as well as a long awaited rematch pitting Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman.
