UFC Fight Night 25: Mackens Semerzier vs Mike Lullo booked for Sept. 17 in New Orleans

A featherweight battle has been booked for "The Big Easy," as the recently resurgent Mackens Semerzier will do his thing against regional badass Mike Lullo at UFC Fight Night 25 on Sept. 17 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The promotion recently announced the bout as taking place at the heavily promoted Bud Light sponsored "Battle on the Bayou" event that will air free on Spike TV.

Semerzier found new life in his mixed martial arts career when he made his way to the world's largest fight promotion by defeating "Bruce Leroy" Alex Caceres back on March 26. This after three consecutive defeats to close out his run in WEC before the merger.

Dana White does like to say he's all about second chances.

Lullo, meanwhile, had his way with a series of lesser known wannabes on the Midwestern regional scene, compiling an 8-2 record that was good enough to earn him a slot opposite Edson Barboza at UFC 123 last November. He was disposed of in the third round and will go with the tried and true method of cutting 10 pounds and trying again. His fight against "Mack Da Menace" will be his debut at 145-pounds.

UFC Fight Night 25 will feature Jake Shields return to action for the first time since his loss to Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre in a tough 170-pound throwdown against Jake Ellenberger.
