UFC 138: Chris Weidman vs Tom Lawlor announced for Nov. 19 in San Jose

A middleweight brouhaha has been added to the UFC 138 fight card scheduled for Nov. 19 in San Jose, California, as Chris Weidman and Tom Lawlor have agreed to square off.

The promotion brought word of the pending match-up a short time ago.

Weidman, a heavily hyped submission specialist fighting out of the infamous Serra-Longo Fight Team in New York, will finally get the chance to appear at a show with a full training camp.

His first two Octagon meetings took place under less than desirable circumstances -- and he was still victorious in both, outlasting Alessio Sakara and out-and-out destroying Jesse Bongfeldt.

The 27-year-old prospect is coming up the hard -- but right -- way and that continues in "Shark City" against the "Filthy" one.

If the UFC has been cursed to play musical chairs with its fight cards, perhaps no fighter is as afflicted with said curse as Mr. Lawlor.

He hasn't seen the inside of a cage since an Oct. 2010 win over Patrick Cote thanks to injuries and an assortment of other issues. He was booked for UFC 134 before his opponent, Maiquel Falcao was dumped by the promotion, then he accepted a fight against Kyle Noke at UFC on Versus 5 before suffering an injury and pulling out.

Let's hope he actually makes it to San Jose this winter in one piece.

UFC 138 is unofficial at this time but is expected for Nov. 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Tentative plans have Cain Velasquez making his first defense of his heavyweight title against recently crowned number one contender Junior dos Santos.

Stay tuned to for further updates to this still-developing fight card.
