Can you say "slobberknocker?"
That's what we're likely to get on July 30 in Chicago, Illinois, as welterweight bangers Paul Daley and Evangelista Santos have been booked to get down and dirty for Strikeforce at the "Fedor vs. Henderson" event.
The promotion made the contest official just last night.
Here's what Daley recently had to say about the fight:
"I'm happy to be fighting again. It's a big fight. For those who haven't seen the Melvin Manhoef vs. Cyborg fight, watch it and expect the same outcome for Cyborg ... He'll be knocked out. Just like me, Cyborg's been around since the Cage Rage days. He brings experience and power to the cage, like me. He's an aggressive guy, like me. And it will be an entertaining fight, like mine always are."
The last time "Semtex" was in the cage, he was taking part in one of the craziest opening rounds in promotion history, swinging for the fences with Nick Diaz.
Unfortunately, it was Diaz that hit the home run, knocking Daley out to retain his welterweight title. But now that he's vacated said title to head on over to UFC to challenge Georges St. Pierre, the British boxer may indeed get another shot at the crown.
That's because all signs point to the welterweight strap being on the line on July 30, although Strikeforce has not officially announced it.
"Cyborg" Santos was originally booked to throw down with Tarec Saffiedine; however, that's out the window in favor of a more relevant -- and explosive -- match-up against Daley.
Like "Semtex," Santos was last seen losing to Nick Diaz. The Chute Box product went toe-to-toe with the then champion (and held his own) before succumbing to a second-round armbar.
No such worries here.
