Shocker, I know.
At a press conference held in Brazil to promote the upcoming UFC 134 event in Rio de Janiero on Aug. 27, Octagon Commander-in-chief Dana White gave his opinion on who he believes is the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
It should come as no surprise to fight fans that old "D.W." gives the nod to his current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. Let's hear his case:
"He hasn't lost a fight in five years. He's never lost in the UFC. The last time he lost was to Yushin Okami in October 2006. He's got the most title defenses ever, with eight. He's got the longest (UFC) win streak ever, at 13-0. And in my opinion, he's the greatest mixed martial artist ever. Ever, period."
Not too shabby.
But is that enough to consider "The Spider" the greatest that ever lived? Or is there someone else better suited for that distinction? Let us know.
