A friendly reminder of just what Junior dos Santos is capable of heading into his main event scrap against Shane Carwin tonight, June 11, 2011, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at UFC 131.
"Cigano's" combination of power, speed, accuracy and killer instinct make him one of, if not the, best strikers in the heavyweight division.
As you can see, dos Santos times a looping left hook perfectly and lands flush on a wide open Gilbert Yvel, who folds faster than a cheap lawn chair. There was simply no way he was going to survive the coming onslaught of vicious follow up shots on the ground.
Is this the fate that awaits Carwin later tonight up in the Great White North? Possibly, but "The Engineer's" chin isn't exactly made of paper mache, as we witnessed when he ate a few monstrous shots from Gabriel Gonzaga only to persevere and come back to win by knockout.
Carwin's fists are just as heavy but will he avoid exchanging punches with dos Santos in favor of a grappling-based attack like Junior thinks he will?
Find out tonight.
