It's a sad day in the sports entertainment world.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage, one of the greatest performers in the history of the pro wrestling business, died today after suffering a heart attack while driving and subsequently crashing his car.

Our friends at Cageside Seats have more:

TMZ has reported that legendary professional wrestler Randy Poffo, best known as worldwide superstar "Macho Man" Randy Savage, died this morning at 9:25 AM local time in Tampa, Florida. He was 58 years old. TMZ was given the news by his brother and fellow pro wrestler Lanny Poffo. Florida Highway Patrol told TMZ that Savage was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler with his wife in the passenger seat when he suffered a heart attack and lost control of the vehicle. They went over the median and into incoming traffic before "colliding head-on with a tree." They were transported to Largo Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. His wife Lynn was sent to a different hospital and suffered minor injuries but physically will be fine. They were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor.

Truly a sad day.

Although Savage was a member of the pro wrestling fraternity, he's being remembered far and wide by members of the mixed martial arts world, as many of today's top fighters have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the tragic passing of the "Macho Man."
