Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently filled another open slot on its upcoming UFC on Versus 5 fight card by pairing up Edwin Figueroa and Jason Reinhardt for a bantamweight scrap at the Bradley Center on Aug. 4 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
From UFC President Dana White:
"Jason Reinhardt and Edwin Figueroa have verbally agreed to face each other in a bantamweight bout, August 14th in Milwaukee. With 20 wins, Reinhardt has never gone the distance and Figueroa is coming off a sensational 'Fight of The Night' performance against Michael McDonald."
Figueroa (7-1) saw his undefeated streak snapped in a three round war against Michael McDonald at UFC Fight Night 24 back on March 26 in Seattle. The loss was a tough pill to swallow for "El Feroz," but his "Fight of the Night" performance pretty much guaranteed his Octagon return.
Will he be able to make the most of it in "Brew City?"
Reinhardt (20-2) was in cruise control for the better part of his career, racking up 18 straight wins prior to his UFC debut. Unfortunately Joe Lauzon was not impressed, strangling the Decatur native and sending him to his first career defeat at UFC 78: "Validation" way back in 2007.
Reinhardt secured two more wins on the regional circuit but returned to the Octagon with similar results. Tiequan Zhang choked him out in the first round of their UFC 127 bout last February.
Can a drop in weight help him return to his winning ways?
UFC on Versus 5 will feature a bevy of marquee match-ups including Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle, Jim Miller vs. Ben Henderson and Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola.
