It's not yet official, but at least you have it in Wright-ing.

UFC Canada Director of Operations Tom Wright dropped the juicy little nugget on yesterday's (May 18, 2011) "Ringside Report" radio show indicating the world's largest fight promotion was close to securing a date of Dec. 10, 2011, for UFC 140 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The Wright stuff:

"We'll do Vancouver on June 11 and then most likely we'll be back in Montreal on December 10 ... We know how important this market is to us and putting on great fights. It's a great venue (Bell Centre), it's a great fan-base, it's a great environment. The energy in that building is as good as any building in North America. We'll always have a soft spot for Montreal."

And what would a Montreal UFC event be without the inclusion of welterweight champion -- and Canada's three-time "Athlete of the Year" -- Georges St. Pierre?

While fans have been calling for St. Pierre to defend his 170-pound strap against Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, the promotion is in no "Rush" to make any promises based on the Stockton native's boxing aspirations and lingering Strikeforce contract.

Time will tell.

Zuffa last appeared in Montreal with UFC 124: "St. Pierre vs. Koscheck 2," featuring GSP's five round unanimous decision win over Josh Koscheck. Nearly one year later, they're ready to do it again. Canadian fans, who do you want to see fighting in "La Metropole?"
