If you think "Stone Cold" Steve Austin can beat Brock Lesnar in a match-up for TV ratings, give me a hell yeah! For those of you that remained silent, here are the cold hard numbers for the debut of both men's respective reality shows from Zap2It (via Cageside Seats):
Tough Enough debut episode (hosted by Austin): 3.3 million viewers with a 2.6 rating.
Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 debut episode (featuring Lesnar as coach): 1.5 million viewers with a 1.0 rating.
That's a landslide in favor of the boys at the Dubya, Dubya, E.
While it's important to note that Tough Enough, a show about 14 up-and-coming professional wrestlers hoping to make it to the WWE, had the company's flagship show, Monday Night RAW, as a lead-in, it's still surprising to see the disparity in the two numbers.
It's especially shocking considering the involvement of Lesnar, who has traditionally been a box-office behemoth. Will TUF rebound and have a better showing as the season wears on? Or is this indicative of the lack of interest in a seemingly stale product?
Either way, it's a big win for the WWE and that's the bottom line because Stone Cold (and the ratings) said so!
