Randy Couture came to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to die at UFC 129.
Okay, not really, he came to fight for the last time before sailing off into the Hollywood sunset to focus on his movie career.
Lyoto Machida planned to send him off in style. And that's exactly what he did.
"The Karate Kid" knocked out "Captain America" with the Crane kick.
Lights on, lights off.
Couture repeatedly walked Machida down, intent on turning the bout into an all-out brawl, complete with a lot of clinch work and a strong wrestling base.
It didn't work. At all.
The first round saw "The Dragon" use his elusive style to find the range and land plenty of strong counter shots. His timing was flawless and his accuracy impeccable.
As much as Couture wanted to grab him, take him down and submit him, it just wasn't in the cards.
That's because when you apparently have Mr. Miyagi as your master, nothing can go wrong.
"The Natural" reiterated in the post-fight interview that this really was the end of the road for him.
If you're going to go out, go out with a bang, right Maniacs?
