UFC Rio: Luiz Cane vs Stanislav Nedkov fight announced for August 27

And another one.

Add Brazilian Luiz Cane to the list of fighters to make it on the card when the UFC heads to Rio do Janeiro on August 27, as he will take on Stanislav Nedkov in light heavyweight action.

The promotion announced the bout on its official website.

Cane was at one time a top 205-pound prospect, thought to be an eventual challenger to the division throne. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt with a penchant for knockouts (nine of 11 career wins), "Banha's" rise to the top was halted by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira's superior boxing.

A follow-up loss to Cyrille Diabate had him on the ropes but he eventually righted the ship with a first round technical knockout win over Eliot Marshall just last month.

Stanislav Nedkov will make his UFC debut over a year after he was initially signed to the promotion. An undefeated prospect from Bulgaria, "Staki" had two fight bookings fall through over the last year through a combination of bad luck and poor timing.

In 11 career fights, only two have went the distance, with an even mix of knockout and submission finishes.

His name might not be recognizable (yet) but he's a very dangerous fighter that poses a grave threat to the reemergence of Cane and his title hopes.

UFC: "Rio" is set for August 27, 2011, and will feature Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva defending his title in a long-awaited rematch against the last man to defeat him in mixed martial arts, Yushin "Thunder" Okami.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will also fight for the first time since losing the light heavyweight title when he takes on former champion Forrest Griffin in a rematch of their UFC 76 bout.

Stay tuned to for future updates on this still developing fight card.
