UFC 141: "Lesnar vs. Overeem" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $75,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "Sin City" with a second sack of simoleons.
"Knockout of the Night" was an obvious choice, considering it took Johny Hendricks just 12 seconds to send Jon Fitch tumbling back down the welterweight ladder with a huge left hook. "This puts him right in contention," said UFC President Dana White.
Sounds good to me.
Heading into the event, everyone and their mom was picking Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone to engage in a three-round slugfest that would result in "Fight of the Night." And now everyone and their mom can pat themselves on the back for predicting the obvious.
Fun fight is fun.
Because there was no submission on the card, no bonus for "Submission of the Night" was given out.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 141:
Knockout of the Night -- Johny Hendricks
Fight of the Night -- Nate Diaz vs. Donald Cerrone
Again, each fighter received $75,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
