It's "Mayday" in San Jose.
That's because a bum shoulder forced Johnny Eduardo to withdraw from the upcoming UFC 139 pay-per-view event, leaving top bantamweight prospect Michael McDonald without a date to the big dance.
Until now.
McDonald tweeted earlier today that UFC newcomer Alex Soto would be tagged as Eduardo's replacement for the "Henderson vs. Shogun" preliminary card.
I got a newcomer to the UFC, Alex Soto on the same card. The dude is a scrapper. I'm so tired of decisions. Not this time lol
McDonald is 2-0 inside the Octagon and 13-1 overall, having notched back-to-back decision wins over Edwin Figeuroa and Chris Cariaso as part of his 2011 fight campaign.
Soto (6-0-1) is fresh off a two-round draw opposite Seiji Akao at DEEP 54: "Impact" back in June. The San Diego native is a well-rounded fighter with three submissions and two knockouts in five wins.
UFC 139 is set for Nov. 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, and will feature former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson climbing back inside the Octagon to wage war against former titleholder Mauricio Rua in what's been deemed a potential number one contender bout.
In the co-main event of the evening, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le will make his UFC debut against "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva.
