When UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva got all huffy over this photo between his manager Ed Soares and his nemesis Chael Sonnen, he offered the latter the rematch he's been asking for -- on one condition.
Come to Brazil.
After disposing of Brian Stann at UFC 136, the mouthy middleweight mudslinger has been seeking revenge on the reigning 185-pound kingpin, who survived four-and-a-half rounds of abuse before submitting Sonnen with a triangle choke at UFC 117 back in August 2010.
And if he has to go to South America to do it, then so be it. "I accept Anderson," Sonnen tweeted. "Brazil it is. Now then, about that meal..."
The meal in question is probably the medium-rare steak Sonnen is expecting to have served by Silva's wife in this controversial interview from October, where he also offered to pat her on the fanny.
"The Spider" is expected to remain sidelined until June 2012 while recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered during preparations for his UFC 134 title defense against Yushin Okami.
Prior to his suspension and other legal troubles, Sonnen was penciled in for an immediate rematch against Silva earlier this year. Vitor Belfort was plugged in as a replacement and was finished in less than four minutes.
"Thunder" fared just as poorly.
That leaves little wiggle room as far as possible contenders, despite the best efforts of Michael Bisping and "The Phenom," who also want a crack at the middleweight crown.
But part of me wants to see Sonnen head to Brazil just to hear the crowd's reaction when he's announced.
Stay tuned.
