"Honestly, I think Brock will win pretty easily. I think we’re going to see the closest thing to a grappler versus striker match you’ll see nowadays. Brock is going to cover up; maybe throw one jab. He’ll rush Overeem to the cage, reach down for a leg and rip him down.... I don’t think he’s going to get off his back. I’d be very shocked -- I’d applaud Overeem if he got off his back."
-- Former two-time (undisputed and interim) UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, shares his prediction with ESPN.com for the titanic tilt between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 on New Year's Eve weekend 2011. Mir, who has split a pair of fights against Lesnar in the past, feels that his incredible strength and wrestling pedigree will be just too much for the former K-1 kickboxing champion to overcome. In fact, it's going to be a walk in the park for Lesnar if and when he takes down "Demolition Man" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a fight that will determine the division's next number one contender. Lesnar, however, has not seen any action in more than a year because of his debilitating diverticulitis ailment, while Overeem showed off his solid takedown defense in a winning effort against Brazilian jiu-jitsu stud, Fabricio Werdum, back in June. Has Mir actually given this much thought or is it really going to be as academic as he predicts? Opinions, please.
