Ripple effect!
The UFC 137 fight card, which last night (Oct. 18, 2011) went into the lab for some modifications, will re-emerge with a middleweight bout between Brad Tavares and Dustin Jacoby attached to its pay-per-view broadcast.
That's because the B.J. Penn vs. Nick Diaz fight is the new headliner for the Oct. 29 show in Las Vegas, after Georges St. Pierre was not impressed with the stability of his knee. Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione is the new co-main event, giving Tavares vs. Jacoby the room to move up from the Facebook prelims.
Got all that?
For the snobs among us, I'll caution you to not turn your nose up to this bout before considering the potential fireworks. Despite a unanimous decision loss to the venerable Aaron Simpson last July, Tavares was perfect through seven fights and has continued to improve since his 2010 graduation from "The Ultimate Fighter."
Jacoby is making his promotion debut but comes highly regarded from Finney's HIT Squad and has six finishes in as many wins. Don't sleep on this middleweight mash-up.
