Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will once again return to Spike TV for its upcoming UFC 137 "Prelims" telecast featuring bouts between Donald Cerrone vs. Dennis Siver and Tyson Griffin vs. Bart Palaszewski.
UFC 137: "Champion vs. The Killer" is scheduled to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., Oct. 29, 2011.
Cerrone, who is fresh off a "Knockout of the Night" performance over Charles Oliveira at UFC on Versus 5, once again stepped up on short notice when Sam Stout was forced off the card. Siver, meanwhile, registered another "controversial" decision win over Matt Wiman back at UFC 132, which marked the seventh win for the German striker in his last eight trips inside the Octagon.
With these talented strikers both looking to crack into the division's elite once and for all, expect them to come out guns blazing and leave it all inside the cage.
In the other featured bout, it's a featherweight fight with significance for two fighters who are looking to return to form and get back to their winning ways. Griffin recently snapped a three-fight losing skid with a majority decision over Manny Gamburyan, while Palaszewski dropped a split decision to Kamal Shalorus late last year.
Injuries have prevented "Bartimus" from making his promotional debut, which will be no "gimme" when he finally does make it going up against a hungry, motivated veteran like Griffin.
UFC 137: "St. Pierre vs. Condit" will feature welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre putting his 170-pound title on the line when he goes head-to-head against number one division contender Carlos Condit. The co main event will highlight the recently demoted Nick Diaz taking on B.J. Penn, while Pride FC legend Mirko Filipovic will attempt to outstrike The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 winner Roy Nelson.
