"We tried to rehab it first for six weeks. Then, finally, when the six weeks was up, we did another MRI. The muscle was still torn, so they said we have to do the surgery. I definitely want to be as active as I can. It’s hard, but it’s part of the territory. People get hurt all the time. [The UFC needs] to keep the fights going. They can’t wait around half a year for fights. It doesn’t offend me at all. When I’m ready, I’ll come back and fight."
UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez (via MMA Weekly) doesn't expect the promotion to wait around for him to repair and rehab his torn rotator cuff, mostly because of the 6-8 month recovery timetable. Meanwhile, division number one contender Junior dos Santos has been chomping at the bit to get back into the cage and throw hands. Does "Cigano" deserve an Interim title fight? Or should he just suck it up until the champ returns to action?
