"I would be honored to fight Cheick Kongo. I think that would be a lot of fun to throw down. I think it would be a lot of fun to fight somebody of that caliber. Somebody that has legendary stand-up, has a wrestling game to them, has a good ground-and-pound game. I think it would be fun. I think it would be a real trip to get in there and see how well I can fare against him. I respect the hell out of him. I've met him several times, and he's always been extremely cool and very, very polite. I think it would be a lot fun."
Matt Mitrione did not attend the Chael Sonnen school of how to hype a fight. In fact, the pudgy heavyweight is taking the exact opposite route in his attempt to secure a fight against burly brawler Cheick Kongo. "Meathead" has turned into Mr. Nice Guy in being overly complimentary regarding the Frenchman's status in the UFC's ever so fragile 265-pound division. His claim that Kongo has "legendary stand-up" may be met with astonishment but can anyone argue that it would be a grand old time if the two were to meet in the center of the Octagon and start slinging heavy leather? Sure, the Wolfslair kickboxer is coming off back surgery and is 1-2-1 in his last four fights, but seriously, would anyone be against this match-up? If you'd like to play Debbie Downer, state your case in the comments.
