Demian Maia's next fight to be at UFC: "Rio" in Brazil?

He tells Tatame that's exactly what he would like:

"I'm waiting... I'd like to fight in Brazil in August, it's what I want the most, but there's nothing confirmed. My manager is talking to the guys there. I can't say much, I've fought MMA few times in Brazil and for me it'd be, like the Americans say, priceless. Everybody wants me to fight, but the division is a little bit messed up, the matchmaking, but I can't complain. I've fought four times last year and the most important thing is not to lose the rhythm. I won't lack fights. UFC has 260 athletes after its fusion with WEC, so it'll be crazy to match these fights to fill all cards."

When the announcement came down that the UFC would make a long-awaited return to Brazil on Aug. 27, natives of the South American country started lining up to throw their name in the hat for a spot on the card. Anderson Silva, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Jose Aldo and Vitor Belfort all attended the press conference to announce the return to their homeland and it's presumed, if all goes well before then, they will be just a few of the names to compete at the event. The latest to want in on the fun is Demian Maia. The jiu-jitsu wizard last fought at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 Finale on Dec. 4 of last year (2010) and is patiently awaiting word on his next foe. With the UFC's penchant for stacking cards with hometown fighters, is it crazy to think that every fight at UFC: "Rio" will feature at least one and maybe two Brazilians? And if Maia finds his way on the card, who will it be against?
