Former UFC 205-pound contender Keith Jardine will get some company on September 11 when a couple of familiar faces from his former promotion join him on the Shark Fights 13: "Jardine vs. Prangley" card from the Civic Center Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas.
Hard-hitting light heavyweight sluggers Houston Alexander (10-6) and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (9-6) will hook 'em up in a battle of big-fisted brawlers to see who still packs the more powerful punch.
A grappling chess match this ain't.
"The Nebraskan Assassin" was able to right the ship after dropping five of his last six fights. Alexander outlasted David Griffin to take a unanimous decision at UFA 1: "Clash at the Coliseum" back on June 11.
Despite making some noise early in his UFC career, Alexander was never able to get to the next level, primarily because of his ignorance of the ground game. While he can turn the lights out when he lands clean, the formula for toppling the friendly father of five is not much of a secret.
That might not give him much to worry about against Sokoudjou. The Cameroonian has also had his share of difficulties on the ground, but aside from his striking, the former PRIDE spoiler boasts a dangerous Judo offense that could be the deciding factor in this contest.
"The African Assassin" is also coming off a much-needed win, stopping Joaquim Ferreira via technical knockout at last week's Impact FC: "The Uprising" in Brisbane.
Shark Fights 13 will be headlined by "The Dean of Mean," Keith Jardine, as he tangles with well-traveled MMA veteran Trevor Prangley.
