UFC ON VERSUS 2 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE MAIN CARD COMMENTARY:

Druby James here!

Jon "Bones" Jones vs. Vladimir "The Janitor" Matyushenko (205-pound limit)

Round one: Jones takes the center and he has his hands hanging. Both guys miss with body punches. Nice leg kick from Jones. Spinning back kick to the body connects for Jones. Into the clinch and Jones gets a nice takedown. Vlad has his arm tied up here, though, and he's looking for something. Jones frees his arm and passes to side control. Now Jones traps Matyushenko's arm and he's raining down elbow after elbow. Vlad is in big time trouble here as Jones is unloading with devastating bows. That's it. Herb Dean has seen enough punishment and he steps in to save Matyushenko from more damage. Another statement win for Jon Jones on Versus.

Final result: Jon Jones defeats Vladimir Matyushenko via technical knockout (strikes) at 1:52 of round one

Mark Munoz vs. Yushin Okami (185-pound limit)

Round one: Gloves touch and we're underway. Okami has the center of the cage and he's showing his jab, but not throwing it. He's stalking Munoz down and now fires and misses with a left hook. Now he misses with a left to the body. He still has the center and he's still walking Munoz down here, but not much action. Now he unloads with a two punch combo. Munoz eats it and circles out. Munoz fires and misses with a quick high kick. Okami leans in again with another combo that doesn't do much damage. Munoz circles out again. Now he shoots for a single. Okami sprawls and stands. Munoz is back up and Okami misses with a right hook. Munoz leans in with a combo, but Okami shrugs it off. Munoz shoots in quickly again and this time he has more success with it as Okami gets put on his butt. Munoz is holding on trying to hold the Japanese fighter down, but Okami climbs back to his feet somehow. Munoz stays clinched, though, and pins Okami's back against the fence. Munoz looking for a single now. Okami is peppering him with little punches. Munoz lets got of the leg and explodes with a left hook that just misses. They're separated now as Okami circles away. Leg kick from Munoz. Okami misses with a jab and Munoz times a single leg attempt nicely, but Okami defends it even better. A close round ends there. I'd give it to Okami. Munoz had the takedown, but he couldn't keep him there and Okami was better everywhere else.

Round two: Okami takes the center right away and starts walking Munoz down. One-two combo from Okami. Nice body kick from Munoz. Okami leans in with another combo, but Munoz uses the opportunity to shoot for the takedown. Okami sprawls nicely and they're back up. Munoz explosed with a wild right hand, but Okami avoids it. Okami stalks Munoz into the cage and they clinch momentarily before separating. Munoz connects with a left hand then right hand that drops Okami. He looks okay, though, and scores a takedown as Munoz rushes in to finish. Munoz right back up and he's looking to tee off on Okami again. Okami looks like he's in trouble, and Munoz connects with another hard right hand. Munoz shoots in and Okami sprawls. Munoz is latched onto his leg as Okami is trying to free himself with hammer fists. Okami stands, but Munoz is still hanging onto his leg. Now Munoz has both legs and finally gets the takedown as the round ends. All Munoz there.

Round three: Okami runs out for round three. He starts off much more aggressively with his punches here, swinging wildly. Munoz shoots, but Okami sprawls and gets separation. Nice jabs and combinations landing for Okami here and Munoz isn't doing much more than covering up. Okami continues to walk forward. Munoz with a half hearted takedown attempt, but Okami easily sprawls and defends it again. Okami walks him into the fence and starts teeing off with more punches. Munoz is covering up again and now they're in the clinch. Okami now has a single leg attempt. Munoz defends it and they separate. Munoz misses with a right hand. Now he shoots, but gets nowhere with a single. Okami circles away. Munoz leans in with an overhand right, but Okami times a counter perfectly and Munoz buckles. Okami rushes in but Munoz grabs on for a single leg attempt to avoid the punishment. Okami stands and they're back on their feet. Munoz swings wildly and misses. Munoz's eye is bleeding now. Okami with more combos as he stalks Munoz down. Nice jabs followed up by a straight left hand from Okami. Munoz shoots again and again Okami sprawls and defends it. Munoz with a double attempt now, but Okami defends it again and continues to work punches and hammer fists as Munoz isn't doing much but holding on. Big John wants some action. Munoz tries to explode back to his feet, but he can't get there. The fight ends there. That round was all Okami, but this is anybody's fight depending on how the first round was scored. It's going to be an interesting decision.

Final result: Yushin Okami defeats Mark Munoz via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Howard explodes with a lightning quick left hook that just misses. He leans in with another that also misses, but they end up in back in the clinch immediately afterward. Knee to the body followed up by a beautiful double leg takedown from Ellenberger. Howard has a full closed guard here as Ellenberger works some ground strikes. Ellenberger pushes him towards the cage as he continues to throw punches and elbows to Howard's head. Howard tries to get back to his feet, but Ellenberger stays heavy. Now Herb Dean steps in and calls for a stand up. Push kick from Jake. Hard leg kick from Howard. Jake with a punch to the body. Back into the clinch and Ellenberger scores a quick single leg takedown. Into Howard's half guard as he works the ground and pound. The round ends there and that should be Ellenberger 10-9.

Ellenberger is backpedaling with Howard charging at him and he shoots quickly and puts Howard on his back again. More ground and pound from Jake. The round ends there and despite getting rocked early on, Ellenberger made that round really close and may have even stole it.

Round three: Howard's left eye is just about swollen shut as he comes out for round three. He's okay to continue, though, and we're back underway. He catches a body kick from Ellenberger and unloads with a right hand. Ellenberger gets sent backwards and Howard charges forward and connects with a brutal knee. Ellenberger looks hurt again as he tries to circle away. Howard is swinging for the fences, but Jake is recovered now. Howard shoots with a slow motion single leg attempt. Ellenberger defends it easily and gets separation. Jab from Ellenberger as Howard's eye continues to swell. Takedown for Ellenberger right into Howard's full guard. Softening blows to the body from Jake. Now some elbow attempts to that eye. Herb Dean wants a timeout and he calls for the cageside doctor to come over and take a look at Howard. The doctor takes one look at the eye and calls the fight right there. Big win for Jake Ellenberger who hands "Doomsday" his first loss inside the Octagon.

Final result: Jake Ellenberger defeats John Howard via technical knockout (doctor stoppage) at 2:21 of round three

Takanori Gomi vs. Tyson Griffin (155-pound limit)

Round one: No gloves touching here and we're underway with the first fight of the Versus telecast. Griffin opens up with a right hand. Gomi's stance is nice and low. Griffin leans in and they exchange. Griffin again lands a right hand. Gomi fires back and misses on two wild punches. Griffin has his hands down by his waste. He looks a little bit too comfortable here. Gomi misses with a left then fires a right that lands right on the button. Tyson crumbles like a ton of bricks and this fight is over just like that. Wow!
