WEC 49 medical suspensions and injuries for 'Varner vs Shalorus'

The Edmonton Combative Sports Commission yesterday issued its list of medical suspensions for those who competed at the WEC 49: "Varner vs. Shalorus" event which took place on June 20 from the Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It was a clean sweep across the board as every fighter that saw action last Sunday night will also see a medical suspension in one form or another.

The majority of suspensions were for precautionary reasons save for the two main event participants, who are required to follow up with their doctors after a bone-crunching performance that left both fighters licking their wounds.

Here is the complete list of WEC 49 injuries and their medical instructions:

Jamie Varner: Suspended indefinitely unless cleared by a doctor. Rib cage must be examined and X-rays are required of right hand and foot.

Kamal Shalorus: Suspended indefinitely unless cleared by a doctor. X-rays required for both hands and right leg.

30 Day Suspensions (precautionary reasons):

Yves Jabouin
Mark Hominick
Will Campuzano
Diego Nunes

21 Day Suspensions (precautionary reasons):

L.C. Davis
Daniel Downes
Anthony Leone

14 Day Suspensions (precautionary reasons):

Chris Horodecki
Eddie Wineland
Frank Gomez
Wagnney Fabiano
Bendy Casimir
Raphael Assuncao
Chris Cariaso
Rafael Rebello
Renan Barao

7 Day Suspensions (precautionary reasons):

Josh Grispi
Will Kerr
Karen Darabedyan
Erik Koch

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
