Former UFC lightweight standout Josh Neer has agreed to fight Jesse Finney at the inaugural Fight Me event, entitled "The Battle Begins." The match up will take place at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri on August 14.
KO Dynasty CEO Mickey Dubberly confirmed the bout to MMAmania.com earlier today.
Following a gutsy and hard-fought win over Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 17: "Lauzon vs. Stephens" in early 2009, the returning Neer had inked a four-fight contract extension that was expected to keep the 155-pound dynamo inside the Octagon for an additional four fights.
The promotion would only give him two.
After losing back-to-back fights to Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 101 and Gleison Tibau at UFC 104, "The Dentist" was released from his Zuffa contract.
And it's been proven time and time again that guys who fight like Neer does will never be unemployed.
Going 2-1 since his UFC release and most recently losing to Eddie Alvarez in the Bellator 17 super fight back in May, Neer will be looking to get back in the win column against the undefeated Jesse Finney.
The Missouri native Finney has compiled a 6-0 record over the last three years, only being pushed past the first round once.
His last two contests have both taken place on the undercard of Strikeforce events and have both resulted in submission wins; against Josh Bumgarner at "Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields" and against Justin DeMoney at "Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery."
