What was widely figured to be the welterweight number one contender bout has now been made official.

The winner of the UFC 113 co-main event fight between Paul Daley and Josh Koscheck will be next in line to battle Georges St. Pierre for his welterweight crown. UFC President Dana White confirmed the news during today's press conference in Montreal.

Daley is as confident as they come and the heavy-handed welterweight striker has been able to back it up with two lethal performances since making his promotional debut.

He torched the title hopes of Martin Kampmann with a first round technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" and then brutalized grappling whiz Dustin Hazelett at UFC 108: "Evans vs. Silva" with a crushing knockout in hos most recent performance.

Koscheck, meanwhile, has been recovering for an injury that forced him out of a planned rematch against Paulo Thiago at UFC 109: "Relentless" next month.

He has gone on to score two impressive wins since the surprise loss to the Brazilian, stopping Frank Trigg via technical knockout at UFC 103: "Franklin vs. Belfort" back in September and then choking out Anthony Johnson just last month at UFC 106: "Ortiz vs. Griffin 2."
