MMA Quick Quote: Alistair Overeem says Fedor's management knows what he's capable of, they know he's a threat

"I'm a MMA fighter first, that's my passion. K-1 is a challenge. Fans wanted to see me in the Grand Prix and K-1 made me a very good offer. But the United States is my priority in 2010. I want to fight over here a couple more times this year... Of course I want to fight Fedor. I've been wanting to fight him for a long time. I know he's just a fighter and doesn't really choose his fights. Whether it's his management or not, they don't want a fight with me. They see me as a threat. They know what I'm capable of. But I'm the champ here, and it's time to defend my title. So Brett got the chance and it will be an interesting fight... I'm not in this to shut people up. People can say what they want. It's my job, I get paid for this. Fans aren't my boss, I don't care what they have to say. I fight for me."

On today's Strikeforce: "Heavy Artillery" media call with Brett Rogers and Alistair Overeem, much of the attention was unsurprisingly centered around Fedor Emelianenko, and not the looming title bout between "The Demolition Man" and "The Grim" on May 15. Never one to mince his words, Overeem was happy to answer questions about the speculation of why a fight with Fedor has yet to materialize. Alistair also claimed that now that's he's finally fighting in the United States and defending his title, his plans are squarely focused on being more active on American soil this year. And for all you haters out there, Overeem says go ahead and keep talking, because he ain't listening. Any Maniacs care to chime in on these priceless quotes?
