UFC 116 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Lesnar vs Carwin' on July 3 in Las Vegas

The "biggest" fight in UFC history has finally arrived.

UFC 116: "Lesnar vs. Carwin" is set to blow the lid off the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, TONIGHT (July 3) live on pay-per-view (PPV).

Titanic heavyweights, division champion Brock Lesnar and interim titlist Shane Carwin, will headline the mega Independence Day weekend show. Yoshihiro Akiyama will slug it out with Chris Leben in the co main event, and a highly-anticipated rematch between Stephan Bonnar and Krzysztof Soszynski rounds out the top of the card.

UFC 116 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE MAIN CARD COMMENTARY:
Druby here for a MASSIVE card. Nothing else to say but sit back, relax, and enjoy Maniacs. This is a night where its great to be a MMA fan!

Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin (265-pound limit)

Round one: Here we go. Lesnar looks really calm. Carwin looks like he is going to want to shoot by his stance. Lesnar steps in for a right but Carwin clips Lesnar with a counter left. Lesnar with a take down and Carwin right up and lands a knee of the break. Carwin with a BIG uppercut and landing some serious shots and now he lands a knee and Lesnar is covering up!! Lesnar is hurt bad!!!!! Carwin on top now and looking to finish. Carwin on top raining down punches. Lesnar holding on trying to stay alive but Carwin has him hurt bad. Lesnar bleeding from his eye. Carwin with a big elbow now. Carwin postures up and lands some more good punches. You can hear the thud from his right. Lesnar trying to push off to get up but he cant move, Lesnar is hurt BAD. Brock scrambles to his feet somehow and is holding onto a single leg. Carwin could have punched himself out. Knee from Lesnar lands. Thats the bell, Shane Carwin DOMINATED and hurt Lesnar BAD. Somehow Lesnar survived. Could be a 10-8 round. Id say 10-9 Carwin for now.


Round two: Carwin looks GASSED. He is taking DEEP breathes and holding his hands low. Right from Lesnar. Lesnar is cut over his left eye. Big take down from Lesnar and he got it easily. Half guard for Carwin. Lesnar with body shots. He is landing body shots. Full mount for Lesnar and now he is going for a triangle choke! Oh my god Brock Lesnar just tapped out Shane Carwin!!!! OH MY GOD LESNAR WAS BEAT DOWN IN THE 1ST ROUND AND HE SOMEHOW JUST WON BY SUBMISSION IN THE 2ND! Lesnar lost 10-8 in the 1st round and Brock came back in the 2nd got the take down and easily finished this fight.

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Chris Leben (185-pound limit)

Round one: Akiyama catches a leg kick and trips him but Leben right back to his feet. Inside leg kick from Akiyama. Leg kick from Leben. Leben with a big charging right that lands on the button. Nice leg kick from Leben. Big left hook from Leben, then a leg kick from Leben. Low kick from Akiyama. Nice right from Akiyama and Leben lands a grazing left counter. Spinning back fist from Akiyama misses, Leben with a good knee and Akiyama with a good judo throw for the take down. Leben now has an arm bar!! Akiyama slips out. Leben with good punches from the bottom. Leben again going for an arm bar. Akiyama slips out again but Leben doing amazing from the ground. Akiyama now is going for an arm bar and Leben is in serious trouble. Akiyama with a mounted triangle now. Leben slips out. Akiyama on top in half guard now. Leben weathers the storm and is back to his feet. Big kick from Leben then a great straight left and right from Leben. Akiyama with a trip at the bell. This is a very very close fight but Akiyama stole that one late with his ground game. Leben is doing damage on the feet though and almost finished it himself from the bottom. 10-9 Akiyama.


Round two: Head kick from Leben but he slips. Nice right from Akiyama but good counter from Leben. Leben with a good left. Big spinning back fist from Akiyama but Leben eats it and lands a counter left. Superman punch from Leben lands and then a good left from Leben wobbles Akiyama. Inside leg kick and left hook grazes Akiyama. Leben with a huge left and Akiyama is hurt now Akiyama lands a big right and he hurts Leben!! Leben looks out on his feet but he is landing some serious shots!!! Leben looks like a zombie but he is still landing serious blows! Akiyama now gets a judo trip take down. Leben now walking up the cage. Leben pulls guard now. Leben is back to his feet now! Leben taking big breathes. Leben looking for a front choke. They break now. Big left from Leben. Leg kick from Leben, head kick and straight left from Leben. Leben is throwing BOMBS but Akiyama is standing there and taking it! Thats the bell and another AMAZING round this is an AWESOME fight. Leben won that round with the stand up. 10-9 Leben.


Round three: Body kick from Leben. Nice left from Leben. Akiyama looks gassed. Head kick from Leben lands hard. Inside leg kick from Leben. Akiyama catches a kick and gets the take down. Full guard for Leben. Nice elbow from Leben. Leben again is going for the arm bar!! Akiyama almost taps!! Akiyama was about to tap but stopped himself at the last possible second. Half guard for Leben now after Akiyama slips out of the armbar. Leben needs to stand up. Leben throwing punches from the bottom. Akiyama isnt doing anything from the top but we know he is scoring punches with the judges. Leben trying to buck his way out. Elbows and punches from the back by Leben!! Leben is doing more damage from the back than Akiyama on the top. Leben doing serious damage from the bottom. Lebem has a triangle now!!!!! OH MY GOD AKIYAMA TAPS!!! CHRIS LEBEN HAS JUST WON HIS 2ND FIGHT IN THE UFC IN 2 WEEKS TIME. WHAT AN AMAZING WIN FROM LEBEN. AWESOME FIGHT.

Final result: Chris Leben defeats Yoshihiro Akiyama via Submission (Triangle Choke) Round 3

Matt Brown vs. Chris Lytle (170-pound limit)

Round one: Big right from Lytle. Front kick from Brown. Lytle is throwing some serious punches as Brown is using the clinch to control the action. Now Brown charging forward with some punches. Brown with a good trip. Their tied up against the cage. High kick from Brown. Brown with a throw take down and is right into guard. Lytle scrambles and is back to the feet briefly but Brown is in north south position looking for a choke. Darche choke is locked in DEEP for Brown for almost 30 seconds but Lytle while turning purple held off and is now back to his feet. Nice right from Lytle as they break. Front kick from Brown and Lytle lands a big left. Head kick from Brown. Inside leg kick from Brown. Lytle slips and is down and Brown jumps on top. Thats the bell, Lytle is landing some damaging blows on the feet but the Submission attempt from Brown gives him the round. 10-9 Brown.


Round two: Lytle looking for his big overhand right. Brown holds his hands very very low. He is wide open. Body shots from Brown. Nice left hook from Brown. Lytle lands a good right then a sick uppercut and Brown is hurt bad. Now Lytle locks in a guillotine. Lytle has to let it go now. Lytle moves from full mount into a mounted triangle and is going for a armbar from this position! Lytle has both arms trapped and Brown has to verbally submit!! Wow amazing ground game from Chris Lytle!

Final result: Chris Lytle defeats Matt Brown via Submission (Armbar via Triangle Mount) Round 2

Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos (155-pound limit)

Round one: Right from the Aussie. Right from Sotiropoulos. Jab from Pellegrino. Left from Sotiropoulos. Sotiropoulos clips Pellegrino with a left and he is hurt!!! Sotiropoulos jumps on top and now has the back!! Kurt back to his feet but he is wobby. Right from Batman. Another great left hook from Sotiropoulos. Pellegrino gets the take down now! Sotiropoulos back to his feet though. Kurt with a good jab left hook combo. Nice knee from the clinch from the Aussie. Another left hook finds its mark from Sotiropoulos. Batman with the take down but Sotiropoulos goes right into mission control and is landing some good elbows now. Pellegrino postures up and moves into half guard now. Thats the bell. Sotiropoulos is controlling the fight and landing a serious left hook tonight. But Pellegrino still has alot of fight left in him and finished the round strong. 10-9 Sotiropoulos.


Round two: Nice left from Batman. Sotiropoulos ducks under a combo and now has a single leg. Nice uppercuts from Kurt, but Sotiropoulos finished the take down. Sotiropoulos right into half guard. Pellegrino moves back into full guard. Nice elbow from Batman from the bottom. Sotiropoulos back into half guard now and is landing some elbows and punches. BIG elbows from the Aussie. Pellegrino scrambles and is almost back to his feet but Sotiropoulos is right on him again and is holding him down. Pellegrino made his way to the cage and is trying to wall walk. Good body shots from the Aussie. Kurt gives up his back now, but he is up to his feet. Nice knee from Sotiropoulos. Pellegrino to his feet and now their trading blows. Thats the bell, Sotiropoulos again won that round. Pellegrino is desperate. 10-9 Sotiropoulos.


Round three: Nice right left from Batman. Jab from Sotiropoulos. Jab from Sotiropoulos again. Double jab from Sotiropoulos. Action is slowed. Nice right from Pellegrino. Sotiropoulos lands a big right and then left hook and Kurt is hurt now! Pellegrino with a big take down, but Sotiropoulos in full guard and he is doing damage with punches and elbows from the bottom! Pellegrino needs a KO bad, but Sotiropoulos hurt him and he went for the take down. He wont win the fight from this position. Big elbows from Kurt. Mission control position from the Aussie now. Pellegrino shakes loose. Their back to the feet now. Jab from the Aussie. Big right from Pellegrino and then a HUGE flying knee!!!! Sotiropoulos is down and Pellegrino could finish him but the round is over!!! Oh man Pellegrino literally landed a HUGE knee and follow up right and had Sotiropoulos hurt bad. He could have finished that fight with 20 more seconds. Unbelievable. 10-9 Pellegrino in round 3. Sotiropoulos has the fight though.

Final result: George Sotiropoulos defeats Kurt Pellegrino via Unanimous Decision

Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski (205-pound limit)

Round one: Nice left from Soszynski. He lands two more big lefts and is going right at Bonnar. Leg kick from Soszynski. Big leg kick from Soszynski but Bonnar catches it and gets the take down. Full guard for Soszynski. Soszynski back to his feet and is throwing good punches and landing. Bonnar is bleeding from his cheek now. Nice elbows from Bonnar, and then a great knee from the clinch!! Nice right from Bonnar. Nice jab from Soszynski. Spinning back kick from Bonnar misses. Soszynski charges forward with some punches but doesnt land. Nice elbows from Bonnar against the cage. Now Bonnar lands some serious punches. Beautiful body kick from Bonnar. Nice right from Soszynski. Jab from Soszynski. Soszynski tags Bonnar big time now and is landing some big blows, but now Bonnar is throwing back and lands some of his own!!! High kick misses from Bonnar but then a front kick. Thats the bell, and this round was like the entire last fight. Amazing stand up action, Soszynski is getting the best of it thus far. 10-9 Soszynski.


Round two: Bonnar bleeding from Both eyes. Hes cut under both eyes. Jab from Bonnar. Both men land some left. Soszynski is charging in and teeing off and lands two huge punches!! Bonnar pushes Soszynski agains the cgae where he does his best. Bonnar now landing some wild shots and lands, but Soszynski lands a BIG left and clips Bonnar! Bonnar's knees buckle!! Now their tied up against the cage. Bonnar now landing from serious combos and then a head kick! Wow this is an amazing fight!!! Soszynski with a punch that rocks Bonnar back and Bonnar lands a good high. Bonnar with a take down now!! Their back to the feet now and Bonnar lands a HUGE knee from the clinch and Soszynski crumples to the ground!! Bonnar now jumping on the back and is pounding away with punches. The ref keeps warning Soszynski that he is going to stop it but he is really letting the action go on. Bonnar is relentless and just keeps throwing and thats it the fight is over!!! Stephan Bonnar wins it!!! He was out on his feet almost 3 different times and was loosing on the scorecards but he somehow pulls this one off. AMAZING FIGHT!

Brendan Schaub vs. Chris Tuchscherer (265-pound limit)

Round one: Slow start, both fighters looking for a spot. Schaub comes out, lands a kick and a few nice punches -- nothing serious. Wow! He lands a huge overhand right to Tuchscherer's temple and he drops like a sniper took him out from the rafters. Schaub follows Tuchscherer to the canvas, who turtles up to avoid the onslaught, but "The Hybrid" is all over him like white on rice. He does nothing to avoid the barrage of strikes and the referee has no choice but to call him off. That was fast ... 67 seconds to be precise.

Final result: Brendan Schaub defeats Chris Tuchscherer via technical knockout (strikes) in round one

Seth Petruzelli vs. Ricardo Romero (205-pound limit)

Round one: Here we go, the return of the "Kimbo Killer!" Both fighters touch gloves and come out exchanging looping hooks. Petruzelli throws a kick and Romero grabs it, looking for the takedown, but Petruzelli stuffs it. Petruzelli responds by throwing bombs, which appear to hurt the New Jersey native. Romero is able to recover, but Petruzelli soon throws a kick that rocks him again. Petruzelli goes for a throw, but it doesn't land. Back to their feet. Petruzelli land another big punch and misses a spinning back kick, which Romero uses to grab his back. Romero angles for a submission, but loses position. Petruzelli now in full guard, raining down big punches and elbows. Romero is able to reverse and now he's got full mount! He's working submission rather than punches. Petruzelli rolls to his belly and Romero goes for the neck, but Petruzelli now lays on his side to avoid the rear naked. Romero goes for a submission, but Petruzelli is able to use it to escape. He rocks Romero with an uppercut on the way up and drops him -- Romero is hurt. He clamors for an ankle and Petruzelli drops double-armed hammer fists on the side of his head. Romero will make it out of the round. Petruzelli looks gassed. Round over.

Round two: Romero comes out with a left hook to set up the takedown and eats a knee for his efforts. Romero looks a little wobbly, but he's still pushing forward. Petruzelli takes it to the ground and works an armbar. His belly is down, it looks tight, but Romero somehow easily just squeaks out. Blood is pouring from the face of Romero, who has ended up on top in full guard. Petruzelli throws some weak elbows from the bottom and now throws up a triangle, which Romero is able to defend and uses to move to a better position. Romero now in side control, working an Americana. He has it locked! Petruzelli can't get out and is screaming in literally seconds. He's tapping and writhing on the canvas in pain. Wow that was fast. Romero looks worse for the wear, but he pulled out a devastating submission. Great come-from-behind win for the Octagon newcomer.

Final result: Ricardo Romero defeats Seth Petruzelli via submission (Americana) in round two
