Tim Sylvia: 'The Hinkle fight is off'

Seems like "The Maine-iac" just can't catch a break these days.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia tweeted that he'll no longer be facing fellow Zuffa castaway Brandon Lee Hinkle at the upcoming Adrenaline MMA show planned for March 20 in Youngstown, Ohio.

This comes just one week after the Ohio Athletic Commission denied Wes Sims the chance to rematch Sylvia at the same event because the bout was deemed 'non-competitive.'

"Something else is in the works," promises the former Affliction headliner.

After exiting the UFC in the wake of his loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 81, Sylvia went on to get steamrolled by Fedor Emelianenko in his Affliction debut in July 2008. He then tried to mail it in against boxer-turned-MMA fighter Ray Mercer almost a year later and was knocked silly in just nine seconds.

He restored himself to the winning column with a first-round TKO victory over Jason Riley at the Adrenaline MMA 4 event in September 2009. Though he broke his right hand in the bout, the injury has reportedly fully healed.

Now he looks to make it two in a row -- if he can find someone to answer the call.
