UFC 124 results: Jim Miller submits Charles Oliveira

The grinder just submitted the jiu-jitsu wizard.

Lightweight cannonball Jim Miller came out looking to make a statement regarding his place in the division's increasingly crowded title chase.

And he did just that by avoiding a chain of submission attempts only to lock on a kneebar of his own and forcing a tap from the previously undefeated Charles Oliveira.

Down goes another hot, young prospect.

The beginning of the fight told a different story. The Brazilian came out throwing head kicks before shooting in for a low single leg takedown.

But this wasn't Miller's first rodeo.

However, when he wanted to take it there, the AMA product had no problems.

Although "do Bronx" was thought to have the clear advantage on the mat, Miller showed no fear in exchanging submission attempts with the savvy jiu-jitsu artist.

It was a thing of beauty to watch Oliveira transition from one hold to another -- but he left himself open for a leg lock and once Miller grabbed hold, that was all she wrote.

Now that Oliveira has been taken care of, Miller may finally get that long awaited (and perhaps long overdue) number one contender fight and you know what?

He deserves it after that performance.
