Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)  is set to return to the Spike TV airwaves tonight with UFC Fight Night 23: "Fight for the Troops 2," which will go down from the Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen Texas, on

UFC Fight Night 23: "Fight for the Troops 2" will feature an exciting lightweight showdown when standouts Melvin Guillard and Evan Dunham hook 'em up in the night's main event. Hard-hitting heavyweights Joey Beltran and Pat Barry are slated to slug it out, and a featherweight contest -- Mark Hominick vs. George Roop -- could determine the division's new number one contender.

Melvin Guillard vs. Evan Dunham (155-pound limit)

Round one: Body kick from Dunham. Wow Guillard with a HARD sharp right. Hammer fists from Guillard when Dunham goes for a leg. Dunham going for the take down and has the back. Dunham drags Guillard to the mat. Guillard is trying to walk the cage to get this back on the feet. Dunham working to pull him away from the cage. Guillard jumps up and on one leg lands some HARD punches that force Duham to let go of a single. Great combo from Guillard, fast and hard. Guillard's speed is amazing. Nice left from Guillard. HUGE right from Guillard drops Dunham!!! Guillard pounces and lands a good uppercut now. Dunham grabbing a single but Guillard is landing HUGE blows. Guillard lands a VICIOUS knee and drops Dunham down. Guillard pounding away and that is it this fight is over!!! Melvin Guillard just dominated that fight in an impressive fashion. His speed is unmatched in the lightweight division. This guy certainly looks like a title contender.

Mark Hominick vs. George Roop (145-pound limit)

Round one: Nice right from Roop. Head kick from Roop. Jab from Hominick. Body kick from Roop and leg kick from Roop. Head kick from Roop. HUGE right hand from Hominick drops Roop!!! Left hook from Hominick. Another big left hook from Hominick. Sharp right cross from Hominick. Roop with a counter right. HUGE left hook from Hominick drops Roop and Hominick adds another BIG left for good measure. Thats it the ref stops the fight!!! Mark Hominick with an impressive win. Amazing KO from Hominick and he just earned his title shot versus Jose Aldo!

Tim Hague vs. Matt Mitrione (265-pound limit)

Round one: Nice left from Mitrione. Good inside leg kick from Mitrione. Hague with a leg kick of his own. Inside leg kick from Mitrione. Nice leg kick from Hague. Hague catches a leg kick and is looking for the take down now. Both men are pressed against the fence. Knee to the thigh from Hague. Mitrione lands a good knee on the break. Inside leg kick from Mitrione. Mitrione lands a good inside leg kick left hook combo that drops Hague. Hague to his feet but he looks wobbly. Left from Mitrione. Mitrione just misses a head kick. Good inside leg kick from Mitrione. HUGE left from Mitrione drops Hague!!! Mitrione pounces and lands a BIG shot and starts pummeling Hague with punches and the ref stops the fight!!! Wow impressive power from Matt Mitrione and he just keeps getting better and better every time out.

Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran (265-pound limit)

Round one: Barry moving forward to start things off. Beltran backing up to start. Right from Barry and now their tied up. Beltran with a knee to the stomach. Both men jockeying for position against the cage. Good body shots from Beltran. Now Beltran dropping down for a single leg trying to get this fight on the ground. Foot stomps from Beltran. Good leg kick from Barry. Beltran charges forward with a combo but misses every shot. Big leg kick from Barry. High kick from Barry misses. Barry with a good body shot. Beltran jumps in and lands 3 good unanswered rights. Now Beltran pushes Barry against the cage and is landing good body shots and knees to the thigh. Beltran lands a low knee and the fight is briefly stopped. Beltran starts back up circling. He wants to be a moving target to avoid big damage. The bell rings and Beltran took that round with his work against the cage. 10-9 Beltran.


Round two: HUGE leg kick from Barry to start. Head kick from Barry just misses. Beltran favoring his left leg now those leg kicks are taking a toll. Leg kick from Beltran now. Jab from Barry. Head kick from Barry. Nice leg kick from Barry again. Jab from Beltran. Another leg kick from Barry. Jab from Barry. HUGE leg kick from Barry again. Beltran charges in throwing some great punches and manages to back Barry into the cage. Beltran holding Barry against the cage now and he almost gets a take down. Barry on one knee. Beltran working hard for the take down but Barry back to his feet. Beltran still trying to drag Barry down. Beltran peppering in some decent punches. The ref centers them which was odd. Beltran was working. Nice left hook inside leg kick from Beltran. Big leg kick from Barry. Nice sharp leg kick from Barry and then a HUGE head kick from Barry that hurts Beltran. Good hook from Barry and another great leg kick from Barry. Beltran is hurt bad. Good counter right from Beltran. Another HARD leg kick from Barry, uppercut from Barry. Beltran still coming forward and throwing he is a tough dude. Good uppercut from Beltran. Good leg kick from Barry. Beltran finishes the round with a flurry. Barry had Beltran reeling in that round and it looks like he only has one good leg left. But Beltran is toughing it out and made the round very close. Ill lean towards Barry, but it is any ones fight. 10-9 Barry.


Round three: Nice jab from Beltran and a good head kick from Barry. Jab from Barry and another head kick from Barry. Beltran is eating these blows. Great leg kick from Barry. Beltran for a halfhearted take down but he doesnt have the legs. Beltran good body shot and pushes Barry against the cage. Barry needs to be back in the center of the cage where he can use his kicks. Beltran with good uppercuts and hooks right now. Leg kick from Barry. Beltran puts him back on the cage and is dirty boxing. Beltran great combo, head kick from Barry. Beltran eats it and another good combo and puts Barry back on the cage. The ref centers them again, this will hurt Beltran. Left hook from Beltran. Big leg kick from Barry. Leg kick from Barry again. Barry lands another good leg kick, but he also pokes Beltran in the eye which stops the fight. Doctor checking on Beltran, and this stoppage could help both men. HUGE leg kick from Barry at the restart. Beltran catches a leg kick. Now Barry lands a HARD leg kick that drops Beltran!!!! Barry jumps on top but is throwing punches to the thigh of the hurt leg! Barry lets Beltran up and he can barely stand. Head kick from Barry lands hard. Jab from Barry. HUGE body shot from Barry. Leg kick from Barry and another leg kick from Barry and Beltran is throwing punches on one leg!!!! That is the bell. What a round, Beltran is all guts. Beltran could not use his leg to the point that he was knocked down by a leg kick but he continued to fight and throw. Ill give the last round to Barry for the knock down, but this will be a close fight. 10-9 Barry.

Final result: Pat Barry defeats Joey Beltran via Unanimous Decision

Cole Miller vs. Matt Wiman (155-pound limit)

Round one: Leg kick from Wiman. Another leg kick from Wiman. Wiman comes in throwing a good combo. Their tied up against the cage and Miller lands a great combo. Wiman covers up then ties up Miller. Wiman with a wild left that lands hard. Wiman pushing forward and lands a hard uppercut. Head kick from Wiman. Leg kick from Wiman. Nice uppercut leg kick combo from Wiman. Their tied up and Wiman is landing good knees. Miller with the Thai clinch and lands a good knee to the chest. Knee to the thigh from Wiman. Miller tries to jump up and pull guard and Wiman slams him HARD to the mat. Wiman now landing some good punches. Miller holding onto an ankle. Wiman on top in side control. Wiman lands some good hammer fists and then a hard elbow. Miller looking to get half guard. Wiman postures up and lands some good shots. Wiman with great ground and pound. That is the bell and Wiman controlled the 1st. 10-9 Wiman.


Round two: Inside leg kick from Wiman. Wiman grabs hold of a guillotine and Miller drags him down. Their back up and Wiman bullies Miller to the mat and is back in the dominant position. Wiman posturing up and landing some blows. Miller holding onto a ankle. Miller scrambles to his feet. Miller sweeps Wiman and gets back to his feet. Double jab from Miller. Wiman charges in and lands a good right. Now their tied up against the cage with Wiman in the dominant position. Knees from Wiman. Wiman charges forward and lands a great combo and a HUGE right. Miller drops to the mat and Wiman is on top and is landing some HUGE punches. HUGE elbow from Wiman and then some double hammer fists. Wiman is landing some serious power shots from the top. Wiman is really putting on a ground and pound clinic right now. Wiman just landing some serious rights from the top. Miller is trying to scramble but he seems just overwhelmed by Wimans ground attack right now. That is the end of the round, another one for Wiman easily. 10-9 Wiman.


Round three: Nice leg kick from Wiman. Wiman is unloading with a great combo finished with a head kick. Miller lands a good left hook. Wiman ties up Miller against the cage now. Nice double left hook from Wiman. Now Wiman jumps on a guillotine! Wiman lets it go but ends up on top. Wiman posturing up again and landing some big punches. Wiman just physically imposing his will on Miller. Miller grabs a leg, but Wiman shakes loose and lands two good forearms to the head of Miller. Wiman still keeping a relentless pace and not letting up one bit despite being up on points decidedly at this point in the fight. Miller seems resigned to loosing this fight. Wiman still landing a good punch and elbow every few seconds. Wiman is just throwing punches with authority right now. Wiman has the back!! Miller is wiggling his way out. Wiman ends back up on top and is throwing bombs to end the fight. Matt Wiman put on the best performance i have ever seen from the TUF alum. Amazing pace, and devastating ground and pound. 10-9 Wiman.

Mike Guyman vs. DaMarques Johnson (170-pound limit)

Round one: Touch of the gloves and we're off. Guymon opens with a kick and a big shot that Johnson avoids. Clinched against the cage and whoa, Johnson turns and gets the takedown into side control. Johnson working elbows and looks for full mount but can't get it. Back to half guard and now full for Guymon. Johnson landing elbows on top and passing to half guard while the ref tells them to move. Side control and just like that, full mount. Guymon turns and Johnson has his back now. Both hooks in and Guymon is defending the rear naked choke. Johnson gets the body triangle now. Two minutes to go and the ref is telling them to get busy. Uh, sure dude. This dominant position and work towards a submission not enough for you? He's got the back with the body triangle and he flattened Guymon out and Guymon taps. Can't tell what happened. On the replay it looked like he just stretched his back enough to force enough pressure on the spine for Guymon to tap. Wow.

Yves Edwards vs. Cody McKenzie (155-pound limit)

Round one: Off we go with the final prelim. McKenzie comes out fast throwing hands. He shoots under for the takedown and has him against the cage. McKenzie picks an ankle and Edwards is working hard to stay upright. Pummeling up against the cage again. Yves separates and shoots underneath an Edwards shot. He's holding onto a leg trying to get Yves down but can't do it. McKenzie comes in with a straight and eats an uppercut. Left hand lands for Yves. McKenzie not having much success with his punches. Cody smiles after taking a jab straight on. McKenzie misses a head kick and falls over. Edwards lets him get back up and he dives in for a leg. No good. Back up and kicks galore from both fighters. Yves getting the better of the exchanges so far. McKenzie drops down to get the takedown and Yves gets mount. McKenzie trying to roll him over and he's got a hook in backwards. Back to the feet though with nothing going for either guy. Under thirty seconds to go and Cody is underneath again looking for the takedown and he got it for about a half a second. The round ends with Edwards landing a few glancing blows. Tough to score. Edwards 10-9

Round two: Out the come and Edwards is landing some big shots. Nice combination that landed clean. He lands a head kick too and Cody looks uncomfortable now. Edwards is just teeing off on him. Spinning backfist from Cody. Edwards landing big kicks that McKenzie is not checking. Takedown from Cody and now he's got his back. One hook in and he's got an arm under. His right leg is trapped so he's only got one leg in. He steps over while Edwards controls the wrist. Side control now. Scrambling and he's landing shots on Edwards. He's got back control now and he has the full body lock. Landing a ton of shots and looking for the submission. The crowd is chanting Cody as he is throwing a ton of shots. Yves manages to stand up but Cody drags him back down, still with his back. Edwards turns over though and he's in side control. Boom, full mount for Edwards. Cody turns and gives up his back. Edwards has the rear naked choke locked in and Cody is out cold. That's it. McKenzie would NOT tap there.

Waylon Lowe vs Willamy Freire (155-pound limit)

Round one: Unfortunately I had some internet issues but I believe I've gotten them fixed. Sorry for missing out on round one.

Round two: In we are and I'm back up with about two minutes to go in the second frame. Lowe is on top in full guard. The ref stands them up. Freire throwing kicks. Lowe not checking. Lowe leads with a big shot and uses it to get another takedown. The round comes to a close with Lowe on top and I guess he takes it 10-9.

Round three: Final round and by all accounts Freire is way behind. Lowe lands a straight left. Nice combination from Lowe. Freire lands a body kick with a loud thud. He's opening up a bit now. Misses a left hand and then a head kick. Lowe shoots in for a takedown and Freire avoids this one. Lowe shoots in for another but it gets stuffed. Lowe plays possum and Freire falls for it. Lowe grabs him to get the takedown but Freire ends up on top. Working in half guard now, trying to pass to side control. Big elbows from Freire and he is dominating here. He's probably down two rounds on the scorecards though so this might not matter if he doesn't get the finish. He's landing a lot of unanswered punches but Lowe gets back to his feet. Freire is throwing big now. Lowe shoots on him again and once again, he gets the takedown with close to a minute remaining. Freire grabs the kimura and the ref is calling for action. Uh, ref, he has a submission locked in. Lowe gets out and Willamy might be done for here. The fight comes to a close with Freire still holding the kimura and it sounds like Lowe will take a decision here. 10-9 Freire

Final Result: Waylon Lowe def. Willamy Freire via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Mike Brown vs Rani Yahya (145-pound limit)

Round one: Touch of the gloves and Yahya leads with a kick. And another. Spinning kick. Yahya is on the outside and circling a lot. Brown lands a big right hand and Yahya is looking for a leg but can't get it. Back to the feet and Yahya is doing his best Houston Alexander from the Kimbo Slice fight. Brown pushing forward. Yahya gets a takedown and looks for Brown's neck but can't get it. Brown now lookin for the back but he's reversed and they're up against the cage now. Brown has the neck but he can't lock anything in with the position he has and he gives it up in favor of full guard. Yahya takes the first. 10-9

Round two: My internet cuts out again and I miss half the second round. My apologies, guys. Yahya is staying active and has Brown's neck but Brown backs out. Brown lands a decent shot and Yahya is landing a ton of kicks. He's moving a lot less than he was in the first round. They clinch and Yahya has him against the cage landing knees. They reset and more circling and in and out from Yahya. He shoots in and misses and now Brown has a front choke. Not locked in and the round ends with Brown on top. Much closer round. 10-9 Yahya

Round three: Right away Yahya rushes in and looks for the takedown. Brown up against the cage and defending. He's got underhooks and Yahya ducks under and gets right back to pushing Brown against the cage. Now he turns and gets the takedown. Working in half guard. He's staying very active with punches. Brown is struggling on the bottom and Yahya is steadily landing punches. Brown sits up and gives up his back. Yahya has one hook in and now the other. Brown is trying to turn over but he's running out of time with two and a half minutes to go. Yahya has his back turned with a body triangle in. He's hitting the back of the head and the ref warns him. He falls back and he's looking for the rear naked choke but Brown is defending. It doesn't matter though as this fight has been all Yahya. He's landing a ton of shots that Brown is not answering. He's just covering up. The ref stands them up and warns Yahya about hitting the back of the head. Yahya dives for a leg with under a minute to go and Brown sprawls. He's got Yahya's back but he's rolling to gain half guard. Brown gets reversed and Yahya will end the fight on top and that's a wrap. Yahya dominated. 10-9 Yahya

Final Result: Rani Yahya def. Mike Brown via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
