UFC 125 has lost yet another co-main event.
Originally scheduled to feature a heavyweight clash between Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin, the spot was vacated when Carwin elected to have back surgery.
With the WEC merging into the UFC, it created an opportunity for the smaller promotion's best fighter to be showcased in that spot in defense of his freshly minted UFC featherweight title against number one contender Josh Grispi.
Unfortunately, a compacted vertebra causing tingling in his arms has forced Aldo to pull out of the event, according to Heavy.com.
There has been no word yet on a possible replacement bout.
Aldo was just presented with his new championship belt this past Saturday (Nov. 20) at UFC 123. He went 8-0 in his run with the WEC and is officially recognized as the final Featherweight Champion in company history.
UFC 125: "Resolution" is set to go down on Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will feature a main event of UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar defending his title against Gray Maynard in a rematch of their April, 2008 fight.
