UFC 125 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Resolution' on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will kick-off the New Year TONIGHT (Sat., Jan. 1, 2011) with an action-packed pay-per-view fight card from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 125 will be headlined by lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, defending his world title in a rematch against undefeated challenger Gray Maynard. "Resolution" will also feature a co main event between middleweight sluggers Chris Leben and Brian Stann.

MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of UFC 125, beginning with the PPV telecast at 10 p.m. ET. Edgar falling back and Maynard pounces!!!! Maynard jumps on him and is landing some HUGE blows!!! Edgar scrambling just trying to stay alive. Maynard on top and trying to finish this fight!!! Maynard now going for a choke. Edgar gushing blood from his nose. Their back to the feet! Edgar goes for a take down and he is still wobbly. Edgar is hurt bad and it is amazing he was not finish he got tagged with HUGE shots. Left hook from Maynard again. Big uppert cut and right hook from Maynard drops Edgar. Edgar running backward and Maynard again lands a big hook. Edgar is literally in survival mode right now. Edgar can barely stand. Edgar lands a hard right on his heels. Edgar wobbly still and moving back ward on his heels. Edgar is still out of it I have NO IDEA how he is still standing right now this is amazing. Left hook from Edgar. Body shot from Edgar. Round two: Round 1 was all about survival for Edgar he got crushed numerous times. Lets see if he can get his legs back. He could have lost the 1st rd by 10-8. Edgar looks to have some bounce back in his step. Head kick from Edgar. Mouse under the eye of Maynard. Inside leg kick from Edgar. Good right from Edgar lands HARD. Round four: If round 1 was scored 10-8 for Maynard than Edgar need these next 2 rounds to win. Jab from Edgar. Nice combo from Edgar. Edgar shoots and gets the take down. Edgar has a standing guillotine!!!! Maynard slips out. Good combo from Edgar. Edgar ducks under and gets another good take down!!! Edgar in half guard. Edgar now gets the back with over/under control. Maynard back to his feet. Body kick from Edgar then a leg kick from Edgar. Edgar stuffs a take down and lands a hard right! Maynard looks slow to the trigger. He has heavy arms. Jab from Maynard. Edgar stuffed on a take down attempt. Hard right from Edgar. Edgar bleeding from his nose again. Big knee from Edgar to the head of Maynard. Both men land some punches in an exchange. Edgar shoots for a take down and gets it and then lands some HARD punches as Maynard gets to his feet. Round one: Body kick from Leben. Front kick from Leben. Good left from Leben. Stann with a combo. Good right from Stann. Leg kick from Leben. Their tied up now and Stann with a knee to the stomach. Good uppercut from Leben hurts Stann. Leben tries without success for a trip take down. Their tied up against the cage. Body shots from Stann. Knee to the stomach from Stann. They break. Body kick from Stann and Leben catches it. Good right from Stann and now a good combo from Stann drops Leben!!!! Leben is hurt bad!!!! Leben somehow works his way to his feet!!! Leben is hurt bad!!! Stann with some body shots and more shots to Leben. Stann drops Leben with a knee!!! Stann is dropping BOMBS now and Leben is out!!! Brian Stann with a impressive win over Chris Leben. Thats a big stoppage.

Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida (155-pound limit)

Round one: Guida bouncing around trying to keep Gomi on the outside. Gomi just standing waiting for Guida to stop bouncing around. HUGE head kick from Guida and then a sick combo to follow. That landed HARD on Gomi. Guida just misses with a haymaker. Guida shoots in for a single and finishes the take down but Gomi is right back to his feet. Gomi doesnt like the constant movement, head fakes, and faints Guida is using to confuse him. Gomi is just standing still for the most part and trying to find his distance with his jab. Gomi stuffs a take down attempt from Guida. Another good head kick from Guida and then a take down and Gomi is up but Guida slams him back to the mat!! Now Guida into half guard. Guida looking aggressively to pass. Good elbow from Guida to end the round. That is the bell, Gomi is frustrated by his inability to land anything. Guida dominated that round. 10-9 Guida.


Round two: Guida throws a jab from the start. Guida shoots but nothing there and Gomi lands a good right. Another right from Gomi. Guida shoots and grabs a hold of a single. Gomi is sprawling out and Guida wont let go of the leg. Gomi wiggles his way out and now their back to the feet. Gomi lands a knee to the stomach. Now they break. Gomi cant seem to pull the trigger. Good head kick and right hook combo from Guida. Great straight right left hook combo from Guida. Gomi cannot get inside to throw anything. Big knee from Gomi, but Guida catches it and gets a BIG take down. Guida in half guard. Guida now trying to lock in an arm triangle choke. Gomi with solid defense. Short elbows from Guida. Guida now going for a guillotine choke!!! Gomi taps out!!! WOW Clay Guida with an impressive submission win. Great performance from Guida.

Round one: Vera goes right for a tie up and lands a good combo. Good left hook from SIlva. Inside leg kick from Vera. Leg kick from Vera. Silva charging in with a left. Good left from Vera. Now their tied up and exchanging knees. Silva sucks up a single leg and gets a take down. Silva now on top in half guard. Vera holding Silva tight from his back to avoid any dangerous strikes. Silva looking to pass. Body shot from Silva. Butterfly guard now from Vera he is looking to work his way back to his feet. Silva passes right into side control. Silva looks like the stronger man by a considerable amount. Silva now landing good hammer fists. Big elbow from Silva. Short elbows from Silva. Vera cannot seem to power his way out. Vera is helpless on the bottom right now. Good elbow from Silva. Silva jumps for a heel hook but lets it go when Vera goes for one of his good. Good double hammer fist to close out the round from Silva. Silva dominated that round and both men start jawing at each other after the bell there is some serious tension here. 10-9 Silva.


Round two: Vera comes out swinging big. Good leg kick from Vera and now he lands a straight left and a combo. Good kick from Vera. Silva now tags Vera with a good right. Now their tied up against the cage. Vera got the best of that last exchange. Good knees from Vera against the cage. Silva now with a trip take down and Silva is back on top again in full guard. Vera looked helpless on the ground in round 1 and after starting fast and landing great shots on his feet to start this round this could be a deflating situation for Vera. Vera looks like he is trying to stall out Silva. Good posture punch from Silva. Now Silva trying to step over into half guard. Silva with some punches. Vera is just trying to force a stalemate to stand them up but in the meantime Silva is landing some big blows. Body shots from Silva and some short elbows from Silva. Good elbows from Silva to finish out the round. Another round for Silva. 10-9 Silva.


Round three: Vera needs a finish. Body kick from Silva and Vera lands one of his own. Big leg kick from Vera. Knee from Vera to the stomach. Head kick from Vera. Silva ties up Vera to avoid the striking where Vera seems to have the advantage. Silva now has the back and drags Vera down to the mat. Silva with one hook in. Vera pressing against the cage to avoid the 2nd hook from being put in. Vera just cannot match the strength of Silva. Silva is controlling Vera physically with ease. Silva landing some good punches from the back. Now Silva grabs a single and is trying to drag Vera away from the cage. More punches from Silva. Vera now trying to work to his feet. Knee from Silva to the ribs of Vera. Silva puts back in another hook and is throwing some good punches in bunches to soften up Vera. Silva is now literally bitch slapping Vera . Silva is mocking Vera. Silva is just dropping punches in with ease. That is the bell, and it looks like Brandon Vera's nose is broken badly. Wow that is the worst broken nose ive ever seen in the UFC. Final round was Silva by bitch slap. 10-9 Silva.

Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim (170-pound limit)

Round one: Leg kick from Kim. Diaz waves for more. Inside leg kick from DIaz. Inside leg kick from Kim. Another leg kick from Kim. Good jab from DIaz. Inside leg kick from Kim. Kim gets a take down and Diaz is going right for a kimura. Full guard for Diaz. Good punch from Kim. Kim into half guard. Kim mounts!! Nate slips out. Kim now into a north south position. Big punch from Kim again. Diaz has a leg while Kim postures up. Up kick from Diaz. Kim right back to the ground. Nate now sweeps Kim over, but Kim regains position. Kim jumps on the back of DIaz. Kim looking for the hooks and jumps in for it. Nate now with a leg and sweeps Kim and gets back up to his feet. Thats the bell, Diaz with great ground defense but Kim won that round. 10-9 Kim.


Round two: Inside leg kick from Kim and another. Good left hook from Kim. Leg kick from Kim. Great body combo from Diaz. Stiff jab from Diaz. Good right from Kim. Left from Diaz. Kim ducks under for a single and Nate wiggles out. Another shot from Kim and he gets a great trip and take down. Full guard for Diaz. Kim looking to pass and Nate is using his legs good to control Kim's positioning. Kim with a good pass, but Nate gets right back into full guard. Punches from Kim from the top. Kim with a good left. Diaz pushes Kim off with his feet and gets up! Kim takes Diaz down again with ease right away. Kim now has the back and Diaz is looking to reverse the position. Diaz turns it around and now has Kim's back!!! Kim scrambles out to his feet. Good right from Nate at the bell. Again another round controlled on the ground by Kim. 10-9 Kim.


Round three: Jab from Diaz. Nice left from Kim. Big head kick from Kim. Good right from Kim. Good scramble and now Diaz has Kim's back!! Now their tangled up against the cage. Big knee from Diaz. Another knee from Diaz to Kim's head, but the ref stops it for an illegal knee. Fight back on. Good right from Diaz. Their tied up over under now. Knee from Diaz to the stomach. Kim goes for a judo throw and Diaz blocks it and ends up on top. Now Kim reverses position and ends up in the top position. Kim now works his way to Diaz's back. Kim has both hooks in and an arm trapped!! Now Nate somehow wiggles out and goes for a leg, but Kim slips out!! Kim now going for the back again. Nate now on top and Kim right to his feet. Good punches and a head kick from Diaz both of which land HARD. Good knee to the gut from Diaz and a good right cross. Good body shots from Diaz. Diaz lands 3-4 unanswered shots!!! Kim is hurt. Nate has the back. Big right hook from Nate and thats the bell. Diaz came on strong at the end knowing he was down 2 rounds to none and did some serious damage. Unfortunately it will probably be too little to late. 10-9 Diaz.

Justin Poirier vs. Josh Grispi (145-pound limit)

Round one: Grispi opens with a leg kick. Poirier answers with a few shots but Grispi comes back with more kicks. Grispi has thrown a couple front kicks. They clinch and Grispi jumps guard but lets it go. Rogan called it, "weird." Poirier has him against the cage with underhooks. Thai Plum from Poirier and he's turning up the heat with shots. They're really exchanging and Grispi shoots under for a takedown. He ended up on bottom and Poirier let him up. Inside kick from Poirier answered with a body kick from Grispi. Huge front kick from Poirier. Another and Grispi is down but he sweeps Poirier. Doesn't matter, back to standing they go. Grispi is getting lit up here. Poirier landing all sorts of shots while Grispi just covers up. He shoots to get out of it and Poirier sprawls. Tries to take his back while Grispi looks for a kimura and he might have it. Grispi working hard for it and he yanks it out but Poirier is okay. Round comes to a close and it was a dominant one for Poirier. 10-9 Poirier

Round two: In between rounds, Poirier's corner tells him to put Grispi on his back because he's just a boxer. Not sure about that advice as Poirier was easily winning the standing exchanges. Again, Poirier blitzes him and Grispi takes him down. Gets full mount but Poirier reverses him and Poirier is on top raining down shots. Avoids an armbar and back to standing they go. Thai Plum and Poirier is looking for knees. Lands a big one. Grispi is just taking it. Shoots under again and Poirier sprawls. Two minutes left in the round and both guys are breathing heavy. Gripsi steps over and now he's on his back. Poirier lands an elbow in full guard. Grispi throws his legs for a triangle but Poirier drops him down and lands a shot. He backs off and Grispi is back up. Once again, Thai Plum and big knees. Landing huge shots as the round ends and Grispi is getting beaten badly here. 10-9 Poirier

Round three: Poirier opens the last frame smiling and he's attacking with kicks again. Another Thai clinch and he's just attacking while Grispi looks lost. Grispi shoots under and looks for the kimura, then the triangle and then it's back to standing. Another Thai Plum and knees galore. Grispi rolls and they're back up again. Thai Plum yet again with knees but this time Grispi gets him down and lands on top. Looking to pass his guard and he's in half now. Grispi tried to pass but ended up back in full guard. Just a minute to go and he has to submit Poirier cause he's way behind on the scorecards. Poirier is just hanging on and he'll take the decision if he can get to the judges. There it is, 50 seconds left and Grispi gets to side control. He's got his arm wrapped under the neck but Poirier gets out and he's back in full guard. That was it. Grispi may have stole the round on top but it's all Poirier in the fight. Bye bye to Grispi's title shot. 10-9 Poirier

Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares (170-pound limit)

Round one: Baroni put the sunglasses on for the intro. New York Bad Ass indeed. Tavares opens with a kick. Another leg kick. Baroni lands a couple before Tavares attacks with another leg kick. One minute in and the boo birds are out. Not a lot of action from either guy. OH, just as I say that, big left hand from Baroni and Tavares goes down. Baroni looking for the front choke but can't get it and he's down in half guard now. Tavares trying to get back to his feet and Baroni looks for the guillotine as he stands up. Still holding it but not threatening. Lands a few shots as they break apart. Tavares initiates a clinch and lands a knee before pummeling against the cage. Beautiful sprawl from Baroni as Tavares ducks under for the takedown. Back up against the cage and Baroni lands a knee to the jewels. Restart with a minute left and Tavares is back to attacking the legs. Lands a head kick and he's all over Baroni. Tavares is landing bombs and Baroni is out. Very impressive performance.

Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens (155-pound limit)

Round one: Stephens takes the center of the cage. Davis timing him. Stephens jumps in with a left and they clinch. They exchange knees and reset. Davis lands a combination. Stephens shoots in for a takedown and now he's pushing him against the cage. Both fighters have an underhook and Davis reverses and gets the takedown. He's on top in half guard. Stephens is trying to get his back up against the cage. Davis with top control and the fans aren't happy about it. Stephens is trying to scoot out and he manages to get back to his feet. After some clinch work they reset. Davis lands a combination. Davis lands a big left hand and Stephens is wobbily and Davis runs after him and...clinches. 30 seconds left in the round and Rogan is panning Davis for making the decision to clinch instead of attack with punches after the big left hand. That left earned Davis the round either way. 10-9 Davis

Round two: Stephens looks recovered. Bit of exchanging. Stephens looks for a flying knee but no go. Davis lands a straight left. And another combination. Davis comes in and Stephens clinches up but lets him go. Stephens tries a spinning back fist but doesn't land. Stephens tries to time a jab and shoot under but Davis defends. Back up against the cage with Stephens working hard. Looked for a leg but let it go. Now Davis turns it around. Stephens looks for the kimura but Davis is in side control and he's okay. Stephens gets half guard and he's cranking on the arm. They're up against the cage and Davis is landing body shots while Stephens is holding onto the arm. Stephens lets go of the arm and looks for the guillotine but nothing going. Full guard now with twenty seconds left in the round. Stephens might have won that round by being more active on his back and looking for submissions no matter how ineffective. 10-9 Stephens

Round three: Both guys come out swinging with Stephens getting really aggressive. Davis stepping to his right to avoid the power hand of Stephens. Take note, Bisping. Stephens is missing all his big punches. He shoots in but Davis stuffs it. Davis lands a leg kick. Lands another big left hand. Stephens is frustrated. He's not landing any of his big punches. Davis throwing leg kicks to set up his left hand. Stephens still trying to find the range. OOOHHHH... Stephens lands a HUGE shot and Marcus Davis is down. He is absolutely out cold. Right on the button with a right hand. HUGE shot coming down on him too. WOW.

Final result: Jeremy Stephens def. Marcus Davis via KO in Round 3
