When Zuffa comes marching home again, hurrah! Hurrah! They'll bring you a "fight for the troops" event, hurrah! Hurrah!
The UFC today officially announced their second "Fight for the Troops" event, "established to raise funds for the brave men and women in the United States Armed Forces with traumatic brain injuries," scheduled for Saturday, January 22, at 9 p.m. ET live on Spike TV from Fort Hood, Texas.
Set to headline the long-rumored fight card will be a potential fight of the year candidate when exciting lightweight standouts Kenny Florian and Evan Dunham hook 'em up in the night's main event. Also confirmed for the "Troops" is the welterweight mash-up of Mike Swick vs. David Mitchell as well as a heavyweight tilt featuring Joey Beltran vs. Pat Barry.
From UFC President Dana White:
"It's always a great honor for us to entertain the men and women of the military by bringing them some great fights while raising money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. It's the least we can do for the people who are defending this country and making so many sacrifices for our freedom, and this is a cause the UFC will always support."
