WEC 44: "Brown vs. Aldo" from "The Pearl" at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada., has officially wrapped, which means that it’s time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card. And it may not come as a shock whose wallets are leaving "Sin City" a little heavier, at least for one fighter.
As if capturing the WEC featherweight title with a dominating win over the two time defending champion Mike Thomas Brown wasn't enough, Jose "Junior" Aldo is also heading home to Brazil with an extra 10k for his troubles, after easily winning the "Knockout of the Night" bonus.
Team Takedown product Shane Roller garnered "Submission of the Night" for his come from behind third round rear naked choke finish over the the red hot Danny Castillo.
And "Fight of the Night" honors went to under card competitors Cub Swanson and John Franchi for their memorable three round war that ended with just 10 seconds remaining on the clock in the final frame with a Cub Swanson guillotine choke.
Here are the complete fight bonuses for WEC 44:
Fight of the Night: Cub Swanson vs. John Franchi
Submission of the Night: Shane Roller
Knockout of the Night: Jose "Junior" Aldo
Aldo, Swanson, Franchi and Roller all received $10,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
