Doh! UFC President Dana White 'disappointed' in Simpsons parody of mixed martial arts

Great Wife Hope

Props: USA Today

Quoteworthy:

"I was disappointed. I think it was typical of people that don't know anything about the sport. I know it's for fun, but the second half of it really wasn't even funny. We like fighting, but to make it sound like the UFC crowd is this bloodthirsty crowd that shows up and just want to see people get their (butts) kicked — that's not true. That's the stigma that the mainstream has of us. The Simpsons program will show you how mainstream we're not."

UFC President Dana White reacts to the sport of mixed martial arts getting satirized by The Simpsons last Sunday night on television. "The Great Wife Hope" featured Marge (who opposes MMA) doing battle with an insensitive fight promoter looking to capitalize on society's blood lust. Both sides were played to extremes (as in most parodies), however White was not amused. Should the UFC boss be happy the sport is popular enough to get a Simpsons parody? Or did the long-running animated sitcom do MMA an injustice? Check out the complete episode here and let us know.
