Former Elite XC light heavyweight star Rafael Cavalcante (7-2) will once again attempt to notch his first win under the Strikeforce banner when he takes on Aaron Rosa (12-2) at the "Challengers" event scheduled for Nov. 20 in Kansas City, according to Fighters.com.
Verbal agreements are in place and contracts are expected to be distributed shortly.
"Feijao" made his much-anticipated debut at last June's "Lawler vs. Shields" Strikeforce show, eventually succumbing to the aggression and relentless strikes of opponent Mike Kyle.
The uncharacteristically plump Brazilian was winded by the end of the first frame and likely suffered from his year-long absence from the cage. Nevertheless, he'll get a chance to right the ship in late November.
Rosa, like Cavalcante, was housed under the Pro Elite roof from 2007-08. The former Renegades Extreme Fighting (REF) star cut his teeth under the Sho XC division, posting a 1-3 record with losses to Jared Hamman and Jaime Fletcher.
He got back to his winning ways in the summer of 2008 with a TKO win over Ron Fields at Adrenaline MMA before making it two in a row when he submitted Anthony Ruiz at the inaugural Challengers event on May 15.
The Nov. 20 Strikeforce Challengers card is expected to feature a women's bout pitting MMA first ladies Kim Couture and Kerry Vera against one another at the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
