WEC 41: Jose Aldo vs Cub Swanson reported for June 7

A dynamite match up between featherweight contenders Jose Aldo (14-1) and Cub Swanson (13-2) has been added to the WEC 41 card on June 7 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California, according to InTheGuard.tv.

"Junior" is coming off his fourth consecutive win under the WEC banner. He dropped the heavily outmatched Chris Mickle at WEC 39 "Brown vs. Garcia" with first round strikes. Each of his other three wins for the promotion have also come by (technical) knockout against Alexandre Franca Nogueira, Jonathan Brookins and Rolando Perez, respectively.

The 22-year-old Brazilian phenom has quickly become one of the most feared strikers in the world at 145-pounds, and he believes he is the top fighter in that category. But perhaps the scariest thing about the Nova Uniao trainee is the fact that he also holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Meaning on paper, he might just be the most well rounded fighter in the WEC.

We're still waiting for someone to test those jiu-jitsu skills though. At this point, nobody's really been able to get past his devastating stand up game.

That guy could potentially be Cub Swanson, who holds six career wins by submission. The CSW product was handed the first loss of his WEC career in December of 2007 when he was forced to submit to a guillotine choke only 35 seconds into his bout with former UFC champion Jens Pulver.

Cub was on a three year, eleven fight winning streak before that setback, and has since won two straight, including a unanimous decision victory over Hiroyuki Takaya on the WEC 37 under card.

In short, the Southern California native has looked very sharp thus far in his young mixed martial arts career. He should not be judged too harshly for the loss to "Little Evil" where he simply may have just got caught off guard early on.

WEC 41 will feature the highly anticipated championship rematch between current featherweight title holder Mike Thomas Brown and former division kingpin Urijah "The California Kid" Faber. As usual, the main card action will air live on the Versus network on fight night.
