Bellator III results from Lloyd Noble Center on April 17; Lombard shines, Menne perseveres

Bellator Fighting Championships (Bellator) last night continued to roll, staging its third consecutive weekly show from the Lloyd Noble Center from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Bellator III featured several first round match ups from its middleweight (185 pounds) tournament, as well as the final first round welterweight tournament bout a (170 pounds), among others.

The main event showcased Cuban-born Judoka, Hector "Shango" Lombard, making his debut on United States soil against Virgil "The Mexican Machine" Lozano. It was Lombard, however, who did all the smashing, wiping out an overmatched Lozano in the first round with a brutal beatdown and punching his ticket to the middleweight tournament semifinal bracket.

In other notable action, former UFC champion Dave Menne was able to outlast the previously undefeated Frenchman, Norman Paraisy, to sink-in a late third round submission. He now joins Omar De La Cruz, Jorge Ortiz and Lyman Good in the semifinals.
