UFC 100: Mac Danzig vs Jim Miller on tap for July 11

There’s a solid lightweight match up looming between Mac Danzig (18-6-1) and Jim Miller (13-2) at UFC 100 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 11.

Danzig — season six welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) — is coming off a frustrating submission loss (triangle choke) to Josh Neer at UFC Fight Night 17 back in February.

Prior to the loss he dropped a unanimous decision to Clay Guida at UFC Fight Night 15 last September. "The Carpenter’s" relentless cardio and wrestling proved to be just to much for Danzig to overcome. The Vegan now stands at an even 2-2 inside the Octagon after submitting Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Mark Bocek with a rear naked choke at UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ in April 2008.

He stopped Tommy Speer in similar fashion before that to earn the TUF crown over one year ago.

Things won't get any easier for Danzig on July 11. This will mark the fourth fight inside the Octagon for his opponent -- who is also looking to get back into the win column after coming up short in a hard fought unanimous decision loss to the streaking Gray Maynard at UFC 96 back on March 7.

Prior to that Miller filled-in for an injured Frank Edgar to derail Matt Wiman at UFC Fight Night 16: "Fight for the Troops" on December 10. He took the fight on just eight days notice, after Thanksgiving and having just returned from his honeymoon.

And he looked sharp while doing it.

Miller first made noise inside the 155-pound division when he scored an impressive third round submission (rear naked choke) over David Baron at UFC 89: "Bisping vs. Leben" on October 18 in his promotional debut.

UFC 100 features two major title fights: Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir will tangle to declare an undisputed division champion and Georges St. Pierre will once again defend his 170-pound strap against number one contender, Thiago Alves. TUF 9 coaches, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping, are also slated to meet and determine who earns the right to challenge the reigning middleweight champion later in 2009.
