Jens Pulver vs Josh Grispi set for WEC 41 on June 7

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver (22-11-1) will return to action on June 7 to square off against future star Josh Grispi (12-1) on the main card of WEC 41, which is slated for the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.

MMAmania.com has independently confirmed that bout agreements have been signed following an earlier report by MMA Fanhouse.

"Lil' Evil" has fallen on tough times of late. The long-time Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS)-trained fighter — who recently switched camps — has dropped five of his last six fights. The 34-year-old veteran was most recently stopped in another go-round with Urijah Faber at WEC 38: "Varner vs. Cerrone" this past January.

Despite the losing streak, it should be noted that four of those six losses have come at the hands of top ranked stars BJ Penn, Leonard Garcia and Faber (twice). This is a huge opportunity for Pulver to turn things around … fast. The only problem, however, is that he has to do it against one of the standout prospects in the WEC featherweight division.

"The Fluke" is currently riding an eight-fight win streak, including his most recent first round destruction of Micah Miller at WEC 35 back in August of last year. In fact, eleven of his twelve career wins have ended in the first frame (six by (T)KO and five by submission).

The Boston area fighter is among the WEC’s youngest and brightest up-and-coming stars. At only 20 years old, he’s already developed into a very dangerous mixed martial artist and he still has a world of potential in front of him.

This will be his third fight inside the WEC cage. He previously defeated Mark Hominick with a first round rear naked choke at WEC 32 and Miller at WEC 35 by technical knockout.

WEC 41 will feature a rematch between Mike Thomas Brown and Urijah "The California Kid" Faber in a featherweight championship bout with Brown’s title on the line. Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Rich Crunkilton are also expected to hook 'em up.
