Cub Swanson vs Hiroyuki Takaya WEC fight set for Dec. 3

Cub Swanson vs. Hiroyuki Takaya

According to a recent post on Cub Swanson's MySpace page, he has signed to fight Hiroyuki Takaya (9-5-1) on the undercard of WEC 37, which is set to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 3.

Swanson (12-2) saw his 11-fight win streak come to a halt last December on the WEC 31 card when he was faced with the unenviable task of fighting Jens Pulver in what was the former UFC lightweight champion's WEC debut. "Little Evil" submitted him 35 seconds into round one.

The loss was certainly a step back for a fighter who was coming off back-to-back wins in the WEC against Tommy Lee and Micah Miller, respectively. He took a fight in a much smaller show against Donnie Walker (11-6) a little more than two months later and won by submission in the third round.

By the time he faces Takaya on December 3, it will have been just two weeks shy of a year since he last competed on a WEC card.

Takaya is coming off a loss in his last WEC fight as well. He ran into a Leonard Garcia punch in February at WEC 32 and got knocked out cold in only 1:31. He's faced some tough competition in his career thus far, including JZ Cavalcante, Dida Amade, Gilbert Melendez and others.

Coming into the bout with Garcia he was a highly regarded featherweight and considered a top prospect for the company. A lot of outlets, in fact, listed him among their top ten featherweights in the world.

Zuffa has been known to put two guys against each other in a fight that are both coming off losses. Two guys that need a win badly usually makes for an action packed fight.

This one should easily live up to expectations.
